I run an authority blog. I have been thinking about adding a subdomain section to this blog using wp-omatic, posting relevant content my readers would like automatically. Just wondering if this could hurt my SEO at all? |

It shouldn't. I use PLR and spun content on my WP theme demo blogs and it doesn't hurt anything. In fact, I sometimes get search traffic to the demo blog for the PLR's keywords. Just make sure that you have permission for the autoblogged material. While this won't hurt you with Google it may make other bloggers angry with you if you're 'borrowing' their stuff without permission. |

WP O Matic is NOT up to date. Pulling in RSS Feeds is tricky business. I have tested the hell out of it on Topic Categories within WordPress Sites. And then tracked those sites with Google Analytics. In my experience the tradeoff between setting everything up (It's not easy to find quality full RSS Feeds that are not copyright) and the incomming traffic benefits is not worth the effort. There are many programs to pull junk content - like Yahoo Answers (Which are generally junk), Youtube Videos, etc. And while there may not be a penalty for pulling content, there isn't much benefit either. Bing is doing a pretty good job of filtering duplicate content as well as it's on their radar. And are there any benefits to your readers? And what does a load of duplicate content do for your readership? I pulled a fair amount of long tail traffic from keywords in the pulled content, but it didn't boost pagerank and made little difference to my bottom line. Perhaps you'll do better. I have one site that has pulled over 3,000 posts and my income has not increased at all. My ranking did not drop, but I did manage to pull enough to put me over my disk space allocation with my host. I was pulling images too. Anyways... pick a category, set it up and test it and see what you can do with it. Then if you are successful maybe you can write a WSO. Seems to be money there :P I have found one product that I've been promoting the HE&^ out of recently. Pays about $20 a sell plus residual payments... I wish I had invested my time in that more. I am putting most of my time there now and it's well worth the effort. The Residuals alone should be pulling $10K a month in 6 months if all goes well. So find the product that works for you and milk it. |

Hmmm... I'm not really looking for seo benefits. I just think that it would help build my relationship with my readers and give them more reason to visit often. The main purpose of the section would be making my readers aware of the content, which most are unaware of, and keeping it all in one place is nice too.
