Provided that the keyword competition is reasonable?

Or are there too much variables?

Depending on the how many searches a day the keyword gets, it is possible if you can rank high for it. It sure would be a pretty good test to see how strong those backlinks are on their own if all you did for a site was use those backlinks.

You don't need massive traffic to make a lot of money, you need massive TARGETED traffic. You need people that are actually interested in your product or content coming to your site, not just lots of people.

If you think Angela and Pauls links will get your ranking for words that people search for before buying products like yours, then yes that would be good.

If the keyword competition is reasonable, their backlinks will be enough to rank.

You can rank for most long tail keywords with around 10-15 links to the homepage assuming the existing competition aren't authority sites, aged sites, extremely targeted for the keyword etc.
