Default How can i find the keywords an old domain already ranks for?

I'm planning to purchase some used $5 domains from godaddy.

I'm curious to know what keywords they already rank well for because these are likely already bringing in traffic. Perhaps I can use them too...

Does anyone know of a tool - preferably free - that can detect this?

Thanks

go to alexa.com

pull up the site information

there is a tab called "keywords"....

it will bring up the keywords driving traffic to the domain

hope this helps

Alexa. That's exactly wha I was going to say. You can view the top ten keywords for any site that has stats on Alexa. They are fairly accurate too.

Also check out sites like Compete.com and SEMRush.

It's always a good idea to get your data from more than one source!

Great tip! I just had one of those "duh" moments and already put this to good use. Thanks for sharing, grumpy!
