Default A Massive SEO Leveraging Strategy I See a lot of People Missing Out on…

In my opinion this is big mistake is in regards to SEO, but it probably applies to all different aspects of earning money online.

Here it is…

Why do so many of you have 14 different sites all on 14 completely unrelated topics?

Just curious.

For me, I don’t like doing keyword research 14 different times because I spend a lot of time doing it for each niche I’m in. I may spend 45 minutes to a couple of hours getting keywords at first.

So if I go into a market like acne, I might get 4,000 or so keywords. Then I can build 14 different sites on acne and leverage that same keyword list for each. I might pick different aspects of acne for each site, but all the sites are still related to acne. I can also build 1 big site on acne in addition to smaller sites on specific aspects of it.

If you pick 14 different topics you have to start over with your keyword research each and every time. Granted, in my example above I had to get a really big list of keywords, but once I have it, I’m done and can decide how I want to build all my sites off that one list. This is a huge time-saver.

And there are a ton more aspects of leveraging when you stick with one market, especially in regards to SEO, that I can come up with off the top of my head. For example,

I can also leverage my knowledge on the subject, research I might do on other people’s sites, and my keyword list and come up with a ton of different article topics for my writers to write on.

I can also leverage any links I may get to one of the 14 sites (through google alerts) and ask the owner of the site who linked to the 1 site if they would be interested in linking to another.

I can also leverage all the researching I’ve done on where to get links in that niche (like niche directories, article directories, etc…) and just apply that research to all 14 sites.

I can also leverage any trends I see with keyphrases that are easy to rank for. So maybe adult acne related keywords are very easy to rank for (I would see this when I check my stats, even if you just use awstats, you can see your top ranking keywords) and then I’d know to have articles on adult acne on every site or to build a site around this keyphrase only.

I can also leverage all the research I’m doing into how to make a profit with that one niche. For example, I’ll know where all the good affiliate programs are and which ones convert, I’ll know what the high paying keywords are for Adsense, and good CPA programs. So I can build sites around these programs. If you jump around, you’ll have to start from scratch for each site.

The point is, you’ll learn a lot of things once you enter a market. So in that sense you’ll have a lot of first-hand knowledge that you can apply to other sites in that same market.

Where if you just jump to a completely unrelated niche next, you have to start over. It’s a really big time drain and I just thought I’d share what I’ve learned about this.

Leveraging is a really powerful way to grow your income.

And if you stay in similar markets, even if instead of building 14 sites on acne (I just threw that number out there, you don’t need that many), but you built 14 sites in the beauty niche (acne, spider veins, anti-wrinkles), you’ll be able to leverage a lot more than if you jump from dog training to acne.

In my opinion, the ultimate in leveraging is to have one big site, but if you want lots of smaller sites, which works well too, I think you’ll see a lot more room for growth out of it if you stick in the same general market and get some cross-over.

Hey Lisa,

Great post and the more I think about it, the better it sounds.
Following your line of thinking do you reckon it could be possible to occupy numerous spots
on Google for a niche.
What I mean is, having 4 different sites on various acne themes in the serps for a certain keyword phrase.

Why have 14 and and not just 1 over all? I guess this is the part I don't understand about seo. I am making a site currently and I intend it to be known as that brand, not 14 little ones if you know what I mean. If you post the same content but through 1 site, isn't that basically the same?

Interesting points Lisa. I do agree completely btw. I would think staying in 1 niche would give you the best chance at creating your own products over time as well....if possible.

I have thought about this myself too and have generally created sites that are closely related ..more or less by accident.... because the area interests me .... but mainly because when I do the KW research I find a bunch of related KWs that can each have a site built around it.

And yes, it can save a lot of time, you become more knowledgeable about the subject, can write articles about it more easily, answer a whole lot more Qs in forums that are in this subject area, and even have a better chance of dominating the SERPs with several sites all on page One .... it's great fun!

You are so right Lisa and if I knew then what I know now....I never would have gotten myself into so many niches.

At this point though they are made. So would it be a benefit to market them since I have them anyway or better to still try to stay in just one main niche?
Thats the question I am asking myself now. I think the answer would be to sell them but its hard as I am attached to them

BTW if you have say 3 sites on acne would you link each to the others?
