I read an article today on WebProNews about the prevalence of Google's personalized search. Google is trying to get better at modifying your results based on what it thinks you're looking for. So if I looked up "baby shoes" in Google, the results I receive on the first page might be much different than the results that you receive for the exact same query. What implications does that have for you as an SEO? |

It might lower traffic but should increase conversions for affiliate sites. I don't think it will do too much harm as many people are targeting browsers for a 1 time visit. It will also only make a difference for the broader terms. Long tails should keep the results pretty consistent. |

As a searcher or user of goolge search engine it is a great news for us, because it is now easy to have a good result with such keywords...

I think that, ultimately, this will have a HUGE impact on anyone who considers themselves to be an "SEO". I test this all the time. I am logged into multiple accounts on multiple computers... and I do the same search query and get different results. I am not concerned about it. I just think you have to be aware of this reality. But, you can't get wrapped up in the things you can't control like this. This is just what Google is doing to change the market. You can only worry about the things you can control. Build content, market your content through networking and build links. |
