Hey guys, Ive had a few sites now and after link building, it seems it takes around 2-3 weeks for Google to see the links in Google webmaster tools or just value them... I have done many case studies now, i.e. Building a burst of links, then doing nothing and Google does seem to take at least 14 days to value links. Yahoo on the other hand seems to see the links and value straight away. Anyone confirm their experiences? |

Google is really funny with it's links, it never gives you a complete list which is really annoying. I've waited up to 3 months for some links to show up in the webmaster tools. |

Google is definitely not a reliable source of links. They know about them but they just don't tell you they know about them. Use another link tool, not Google.

I used to experience traffic-stopping delays from Google in indexing links but once I started bookmarking and pinging (using social marker and pingler), I found it often took less than 10 minutes for Google to find those links and spider them. Have you tried that? |

Indexing is not the question, but when the sites show in webmaster tools/start to give effect. Anymore opinions? |

In my experience, google never fully discloses links that it is aware of. Thus, in webmaster tools, not all links will show, even though google knows about them. I say this because time and again, my logs show that the google bot found the page with the link and followed it, but most don't show up in webmaster tools.

You can't use other tools to analyse the backlinks Google has credited because Yahoo Site Explorer is run by...Yahoo!. The best you can get is GWT. No one knows what Google is crediting towards links. Maybe it doesn't count many of the ones it finds due to various reasons. I often have found my GWT to actually have more links listed than Yahoo. When I add more links to these listed domains that get found quickly too..so I dunno! |
