Hi, I've got a client who owns two apartment communities in the SAME town, and he wants to start using adwords to drive rental prospects to both properties. I'm comfortable with adwords but I need some advice on this situation. I'm aware of Google not permitting duplicate keywords in different campaigns and different ad groups. With this in mind, I'm thinking the best way to go is with one campaign with 4 ads. The unique URL in two ads will be to Oasis Apts (apt community #1) and the different (and unique) URL in ads 3 & 4 will be to Paradise Apts. (apt community #2) Campaign: Town - Apt Rentals Rental Ad Group (4 ads in the ad group) Oasis Apts - Ad 1 & Ad 2 Paradise Apts - Ad 3 & Ad 4 Am I approaching this situation in the proper manner? |

Hmmm... what's stopping you from creating 2 separate adwords accounts managed by your MCC account? Haven't really tried that before but just something I suggest you experiment with and see if it works for you. |

Creating two accounts, might work, but the client would be using the same credit card to pay for two different accounts. To me, this could easily trigger Google's attention. The risk would be getting both accounts banned.

Not recommended practice but it is allowed. Only one ad will be triggered of course and one may be triggered more often than the other. Your solution won't work since all ads in a group must promote the same domain. So simply create two groups, one for each apartment. |

How about creating a page with both complexes, I assume that they are in different parts of the town, or have different features. Give your users a choice of the 2 premier properties in town, with some comparison/contrast to help narrow down their choices.

I would bet that a better idea would be to yes, have a website for the apt complexes, but under one domain, but skip the adwords altogether. Just get listed on a huge apartment site (like rent.com) or place a classified ad in the local newspaper. No reason to do adwords, or have a website for that matter. Many property owners just list all their properties on one website. Manage them all that way, one place. But you need to have a listing on the big rental sites anyway as they one the market. Every big site will have a subdomain for areas that will pretty much outrank anything new. And the cost for adwords may be quite high. Since rent.com is already using adwords, along with every other large site, a listing on their website would be the best way. Paul |
