Are those searches in exact match or broad match? Also, a sidenote, you aren't allowed affiliate links in your sig here, as far as I know. |

Honestly it is going to be hard to get a good answer from what we see there. First are these from inanchor? allinanchor? intitle? so on, anyway you really need to choose by what your competition on the first page is targeting as far as keywords, and are the backlinks they have targeted in anchor text using your kw phrase and how strong is the site ranked there? Is it a so called authority site at top or a ezine or web 2.0 property you can beat with a little work? What I am saying is the searches and competition is not the only factors you need to determine whether a keyword is worth going after or not. More research should be done if you really want to get ranked up on the top of the first page for a kw phrase. Anyway I hope this helps a bit and good luck to you. Zac |

Quotes or not makes no difference. What you want to know is the first page "players" PR. That's all that matters. Can you out rank them? How is the quality of the sites. Do they have lots of QUALITY backlinks,etc...... If the first 2 pages of Google have 15 high quality authority sites with high PR and the other things I mentioned. Than forget about it. It makes no difference if the keyword has 20,000 searches and 7,000 competing. Check the PR of the first page sites and the other items. You can rank on page 1/1st stop with 5 million competing pages along as you can outrank the other 9 sites. Ron Quote:

I agree with the 2 previous posters. Make sure though that your keywords are "buying words" otherwise you will not make any conversions. |

More info: For both the keywords, there are these results on page 1: KW 1 6 Shopping Site's links. 2 Authority Site 1 About.com link 1 news article KW 2 3 Shopping Links 2 Authority Sites 2 Review Sites Posts 1 Gumtree Link 1 Blog Post - PR 0 Which all can I out-rank? |

KG, to be totally honest. No one wants to select the words mainly because it involves so much more than just looking at the numbers. You may think it's as simple as saying "go with A". It's not. As a IMer you have to learn to not be concerned about doing the wrong things. IM is a trial and error business. It's a business that requires testing and constant refining of your processes. I am not sure it you're going to get the direct answer you're looking for. Also, no one wants to be responsible for your failure if the word someone selected for you does not pan out. KG, trust yourself and select one or do a split test and use them both. Ron ![]() Quote:

More info. How many quality backlinks do each one have? Further, you can rank almost anyone if you get enough quality backlinks. |

Check the allintitle. Then look at the competition that comes up when you do a normal search. What types of results are there? Are they article sites or authority sites? Pick the one that has less competition. Once you have dominated your position in the results, then go for the other keyword. |

You should check allintitle, the authority sites without quotes, and just consider using both keywords. It can't hurt... Unless your strategy doesn't call for it, or you're doing very focused sniping then going with both could go well.

For first one allintitle:keyword 25,600 For second one allintitle:keyword 896 Well, the second one seems quite fishy...Should I go for it? Quote:

Second one seems fishy? What do you mean? It has practically no competition - well possibly. You should be able to get good results easily with the second one pretty quickly. |

There are 2 Google keyword tools so use them both. Best thing to do is look at your competition. | |

Seriously, do some market research... - Are the top sites fully seoed for that keyword - How many backlinks do the first page of google go to that page - Who owns them sites, are they doing anything else in the same market - Whats the PR and how high are they ranking in alexa - What have they done to that site over the past 3 years and so on... We can't tell you nothing, we don't know the keywords, we don't know the competition site. Spend a few days actually doing research. Doing research is the most important part of the site! why? - Saves you time... - money... - effort... Enjoy! |

Did you used the new keyword tool from Google or the old one (the external)? The new one has more accurate results, also includes link to G Insights for every keyword...
