Default Power of 2: Backlink Effect Debate...

What are the effects of having two backlinks from the same external site page each point to a different page within my site?

Example:

External site homepage links to:

http://www.mydomain.com and to
http://www.mydomain.com/low-cost-widgits.html

Also, each backlink on the external hompage uses unique anchor text.

Does google choose to benefit one link over the other in the above example, or since the links are pointing to different pages within my site using different anchor text would each link receive maximum benefit?

Or is it simply just best to have only one backlink on an external site page?

Would really appreciate your input!

Thanks

This is something I've always wondered myself. What are the benefits and negatives and how far can you push it, 2 links, 5 links, 50 links?

As far as I understand it, each page should be receiving equal link love but this is based on accepting what others have said.

I wouldn't mind an educated and tested answer on this.

Synthesize me, And reboot, I need to start again, I need to make it different

Seems like it is something that we all wonder about

If I can, I will have it so I only have 1 link to each domain on a page. However, this is to artificially inflate my ego so that I can have more links to my domain that I would if I didn't split up my links.
