Default I'm convinced...Web 2.0 properties are no longer loved by google

I have built around 30 web2.0 properties (including linkwheels) and cant seem to get these listed/indexed in google let alone ranked.

I have bookmarked the sites, pinged, RSS submissions etc and still nothing.

I have only had success with hubpages and live journal...but these satellite sites havent ranked well at all.

I know my sample is very small to draw conclusions...but...I have read that other webmasters have had similar experiences.

Well, the web 2.o properties aren't really designed/used to be ranked well. They are used to point back to one money site that you want to rank well.

You can make the web 2.0 properties rank well if you point a lot of links to them, but that wouldn't be the best route to take.

It wouldn't surprise me, Google knows the tools marketers use to try and rank, so if they can program it into the search engine I am sure they will do it.

Why not try to get your sites ranked using the web 2.0 sites ?? This would be a way better route to take.

I got very little traffic from squidoo and bit more from hubpage, but it was a pain to rewrite stuff to avoid being flagged duplicate. i so far think time is better spent elsewhere

Either your misinterpreting the definition of Web 2.0 sites or you have not heard about the social networking craze yet.

Flagged duplicate? Are you talking about the make believe rumor that Google penalizes people for duplicate content on different websites?

Wait... your Web 2.0 sites are not indexed? So, for example you made a Squidoo lens and it doesn't show up in the Google results at all?

That seems strange to me. In my experience, Web 2.0 stuff definitely gets indexed. Not necessarily easy to get them ranked, but indexing is usually no problem at all.

I've you understand the underlying issues of how to identify exploitable authority sites in whatever engine is dominate that decade...life isn't so bad. Popular methods shift but knowing how to test independently keeps you afloat. There are a few out there right now that know what new wheel setups are working and which one's have been outed. Find the ones that test often and can provide results, and hire them to manage your outsourced wheel tricks.

That's my 2.75c for the day...

I've had a lot of luck with link wheels & web 2.0 seo. I've had 3 sites get on the first page thanks to them. But I link to my money site with them, increasing my serps.

Hubpages and blogger get good traffic and rankings for me. In fact, I have a Hubpage linking back to my own page on first page in 6'th position while my own page (with many more backlinks) is on 8'th. It's been like that for months. I have no idea why.

Because the domain Hubpages is much more trusted in Google eyes than your own site and to rank well your page it needs less backlinks, just good content and a few links.

Okay, well, to me social media is anything you can put a comment on. That's being social -.-' Talking to people. In my opinion, it's a lot better to be getting links that are established, rather than something that's not even indexed yet to get authority, and would need another link to make it worth something.

I've created my own little social network promoting the Kris Roxas brand =P and they all rank within minutes. They're little authority sites for myself, and I can just link to anything with them.

Another strategy you could potentially use is to not close off your linkwheels.

Hope this helps,
Kris Roxas

No just that hubpages puts a label on the hub that it has duplicate content making it look less attractive

I think you meant web 2.0 "pages or profiles" don't rank well and in that case I agree....It's better in my opinion to just use those backlinks to boost your money site SERPS.

The web 2.0 sites themselves of course are highly visible.

Yes it is no more working. I have developed 2 link wheels but no use. Even single web 2.0 not cached by google. Then i stopped and used different methods

I can't believe that your using a link wheel. That's the problem. Google catches onto link wheels fast - and your site goes nowhere...

Send me a pm with the 30 urls - I believe I can get them into googles cached index in the next 72 hrs, or less.

Gotta know how to use em. Dont rank them - leverage their authority and trust [ trust may be fading btw ] to get good links - and - you can fire boatloads of links AT them without much concern once they are indexed.

Only 1 or 2 0f these activites yielded any benefits for me over the time Ive been aggressively backlinking and taking steps to index those links.
