Default How do I increase my traffic from Yahoo, etc.?

I am getting good traffic fromm google but virtually nothing from the other search engines as this 27 September screenshot shows:

How do I fix the others without affecting my Google traffic?

Jens

I submitted to Dog Pile and it gave me a few hits.

Was worth the effort.

Yahoo though requires a fee to be included as it is not a search engine but just a directory. That's what I read somewhere.

Some of my sites don't rank at all in Yahoo but have good ranks in Google.

I just had a look here - basically you pay for the level of service you want.

Yahoo! Submit Your Site

I submitted some URL's to the free submission a long time ago and never got any results.

Looks like money talks with Yahoo.

It is both.

My question is whether there are any SEO tips for Yahoo, that are different than what one do for Google.

The Inktomi robot reads my site as much as Googlebot but the results just seem way out of proportion and my concern is that one depend too much on Google.

Yahoo's share of search referrals is a lot smaller now than it used to be. Personally, I wouldn't worry about the above. You are doing good on Google, and will receive the most benefit by continuing to improve your google referrals.

You may be right but as I mentioned I don't like depending on one SE only, for this and other sites.

In addition, writing off 2.3 billion monthly searches (in the US alone) if I can help it doesn't make sense. comScore Releases August 2008 U.S. Search Engine Rankings

Reading Yahoo's SEO guidelines they are, in general, not much different than Google's, so why the discrepancy in search results?

Hi Jens,

Yahoo uses a different algorithm and relies less on backlinks than Google.

If you want to rank well in Yahoo pay more attention to on-page factors. Keywords in your title and URL are especially helpful
