Today I woke to find one of my sites had one page impression and two clicks. Awesome right? I thought so, but of course I am always freaked out by the fact that Google might find that suspicious so I didn't make too much of it.. About an hour later that same site had one more visit and 2 more clicks, so now it is sitting at 2 impressions and 4 clicks... 200% CTR Any idea if I should be concerned with Google finding this suspicious and killing my account without notice? |

I think that's because your clicks are transferred to your stats approx. every hour while the impressions every 4-5 hours. Therefore the number of clicks shown in your stats may temporarily exceed that of the impressions and the CTR may be > 100%.

HCLee is right. Although in some cases, it stays at 200%. I've even been able to duplicate this and the data still shows two clicks, one impression months later.

Google wants to keep their most profitable publishers around at all costs. Yes, they can be ban happy, but they're not going to ban you unless you truly do something against the TOS. If you didn't, odds are you're probably safe. They know that sometimes people are going to click on multiple ads and they've calculated that and taken it into effect. However, it might trigger a manual review, in which case you can get banned for going against their TOS in your layout, but just having that high of a clickthrough rate shouldn't get you banned. Cheers! |
