what can I do to get more backlinks?

Hi guys I started my website 7 months ago and am still working hard at it. I have had some success with traffic. I think I have good on page SEO, but I need some more back links. What can I do to get the ball rolling? I am currently getting about 20 unique visitors per day from google and about 80 per day from classified ads and forum posts. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks . What is the best way to go about social bookmarking? I tried digg but didn't have much luck with it. I also have started a twitter account and have about 100 followers, but don't seem to ever get traffic from twitter.

The best way to get backlinks is to work in reverse. Start with really good content, and give people something to link to. Then go and submit your pages on twitter and social bookmarking sites, directories and other places to get attention. If the content you have is good, people will link to it without being asked, and this is the best kind of traffic to get.

There are no real shortcuts, it still requires hard work.

You can also try press release and link exchange. Article submission and blog commenting would be of great help to drive traffic to your website. From time to time, write new contents for your website for a change to old one.

If your primary monetization method is Adsense then I wouldn't recommend you spend *too much* time getting links from social bookmarking sites.

Why dont you sponsor some wordpress templates? Find a good templates and sponsor it, so you can have a signature link in the bottom of that template. Usually they encrypted it, so it cant be deleted. This way, you can have a good backlinks

Quality Backlinks can be built by getting listed in directories, posting in Forums, blogs and article directories. You can also offer to interested sites RSS for free. When other site publishes your RSS feed, you will get a backlink to your site and potentially lot of visitors.

press release
link wheel
social bookmarking (slashdot, reddit, digg, mixx)

Take a look at Angela's backlinks. Just do a Google search for the term backlinks. Her site and information is ranked at number 2. This is a very low cost way to get some quality, high page rank backlinks. I have used them for several of my sites and they do work. As always you must have a little patience but they are very effective

Blog comments/Social bookmarking don't have anywhere near the same punch as a bunch of links from EZA.

Do yourself a favor and get a premium EZA account and submit quality articles every day. They often approve me articles within 30 minutes of posting.

I agree with forum posting using a signature file, forum profile links and commenting on blogs. BUT, you have to make sure they are Dofollow sites and allow anchor text links. If you know what you're doing, you can get PR4 to PR9 .com, .edu & .gov backlinks by doing this. You can't do that with many of the methods listed in this thread.
