Default disappearing backlinks ?

Hi all,

Has anyone noticed backlinks start to disappear? According to MS, my site's backlinks gradually increased to 177 up to last week, but as of today, the number of backlinks is down to 137 (a steady decrease on the graphs). Also, I had 50 .edu/.gov backlinks, but now it's down to 41.

Has anyone else had this problem, or could at least give me some advice ?

Best Regards,

Diver Doug

My site usually ranks around 200 or so for a search on Google for my keyword. Ironically my site always ranks #1 on Yahoo..go figure

I use Market Samurai. The program has a section where you can track the number of backlinks. i'll try to place a screen shot of the graph, and you can see what I'm talking about

Depending on the type of backlinks you are building, your backlinks will usually decrease a little after every increase.

This is due to several factors but the most obvious reason is because many of the backlinks you normally build, get later deleted.

In the case of blog comments,; your comments could get deleted by moderators. On profiles; the webmasters will delete a big percentage of your links. Same goes for forum links etc...

In the case of Profiles Links (without mention any names or Packages) I have noticed that lately as much as 70% of my profiles are getting deleted after just a few days.

On the other hand, remember that you will never know the real # of links of an website. The number offered for Yahoo, Google and others is only an approximated number...

I too use MS. My number of backlinks started to decrease about a week ago. Also the number of pages indexed on my site decreased also. Then 2 days ago the number of pages on my website indexed by yahoo dropped. On 27th I had 108. On 28th I had 66 on 29th I am back to 108. BUT the absolute best news is my website today shows as PR2!!! YEAH BABY. Everybody show me some love as the newbie is making progress.

Well big congrats to you and the improvement! Hopefully, as a newbie too, i'll somehow be able to show some improvement someday. How old is your website? After a month, my site still hasn't been able to stay about #200 in google.

You went up in page rank as well, but do you know when google updates the page ranking? I'd like to know if my site will ever get above PR0..

That's absolutely insane. I probably average putting up 200 profiles a day, and from periodically running them through SEO Spyglass to see if they are still up, I would guesstimate that stick rate is in excess of 95%. Then again, I wouldn't use a backlink package with only 30 links that is used by thousands of the same people

I would make sure you are:

(1) waiting a few days to put up your profile links. You are just asking for getting your profiles deleted if you add spammy anchored links within minutes of creating your account. For all of my sites now, I wait a minumum of 4 days before putting up my links.

(2) stay away from spammy usernames. I can't tell you how many times i see usernames like "acai berry detox" or "payday loans". Brute Force Evo II even creates these super spammy usernames for you. what a joke.

(3) don't use free email accounts like gmail, yahoo, etc. I just set up a bunch of email accounts on my domains and forward them all to the same gmail account.

If you do all of that, I don't see how anyone could expect less than a 80% stick rate.
