3 Questions About My Cursed Adwords Account.?

Been getting back into PPC mostly with Yahoo and others but I need Google to work also.

My past Adwords account performance was straight up piss poor, I used it to get real traffic data on keywords. Back then I was done with Adwords.

I know better now, but I feel my accounts are still suffering. I am having some serious quality score issues even when using all of the tricks I have learned. I know past bad performance will give bad QS. It's not my lander of my ad I am sure of it.

If I start a new account with the same card will it do me any good?

If not I have an Idea;

Could I run a campaign for a few days with a great ad and bid like crazy to get a high CTR and just set a low budget for 3-4 days?

Say, like 5-10 bucks a day.

Any cool tricks I could do to get the CTR up there? Put it in Asia or India, give something away, anyone have anything better? If I wanted to I could change Ip's clear cookies and click it myself I suppose...

Anyway,

1) Can I fix this account?
2) If I open another (without hiding who I am) with it be cursed also?
3) If the high CTR trick can bring it back, how long should I run it, (will my QS suddenly jump up?)


Someone has to have dealt with this, I would appreciate any wisdom.

You probably do not need start a new account

if you have poor rated keys delete them you will never fix them

a great ad is good at any time, bidding like crazy is not needed

it takes time there is no instant bullet and as such no your q score will not instantly jump up. Think of a pot of water on a slow / low heat coming to the boil, the longer it heats the hottr it gets until it simmers, simmer being q 10

I echo that you don't need to open a new account. I'm not convinced that past performance affects current performance. Even if I'm wrong, the weight of past performance is very low and can easily be overcome. I've brought really bad accounts back from the dead so it's possible. Plus, having another account, you run the risk of breaching the TOS.

If you have a great campaign and it makes money, why set a low budget or run it for just a few days? Sure you could do this if you want but I thought the idea of advertising is to get quality traffic and convert it.

The best cool trick is to have great ads. Give them what they are looking for, they'll click.

So to resume and answering your questions:

1) yes
2) not recommended plus it will be "cursed" if you do the same mistakes
3) the system needs a certain amount of data. Go in it for the long-run and don't worry too much if your QS is 6 the first day. QS don't normally jump up or down once the campaign is established. In fact, don't worry so much about QS but rather your CTR and of course your profits. QS is calculated by a computer. If you are making profits with a QS of 6 but not if it's 7 or even 10, who cares what Adwords thinks. That situation is rare but it is possible.

Thanks for the help folks, I did find some information about this issue and according to my research Google does take past performance into consideration. The best way to get out of it is to simply get good CTR and they will re evaluate the account in time.

It is going to be more expensive simply because I will have to bid more to get good placement. A #2-3 ad will typically get a higher CTR than a 6th or 7th right?

Anyway I found I can minimize the penalty by setting a low daily budget and just make damn sure my ads get great CTR's. I have ads on Yahoo that are getting great CTR's I'll move a few over and give it a go.

If I things don't go so well another warrior has graciously offered to help and I will take him up on the help.

I got myself into this mess, I can get out of it. I like a challenge.

I have a SpyFU account and get great ad ideas from Digg. I can do this...

In absolute numbers, yes. The QS is a good indication of how you are doing. It is a relative number calculated by position against your competitors. So a QS of 10, even in 8th position, means you are doing everything right.
