I've had 8,9 and 10 scores, so they do exist!

You want to see a high score just make an adwords ad and point it at the top listing in the organic search.

All sevens, funny. Maybe you could try downloading the campaign into the adwords editor. I the editor a more accurate QS is shown. On top of that I would try to make smaller ad groups with more relevant ad texts. This might increase your QS and save you a few bucks.

A 7 is certainly not that bad. The old system was something like Poor (1-3), OK (4-5), Good (6-7) and Great (8-10).

It is a bit unusual to see only sevens. But trust me, all the other values do exist. My "problem" is that I see a few 6s, mostly 7s and about a third 10s. I hardly ever see an 8 or 9 which is weird.

Terry, I have no idea what you're talking about.

More accurate in the editor?? It still shows as an integer number. The same as in the online interface or in reports.

Google give 7 as a default when you place your ads.

Here is a screenshot from my adwords accounts showing 10 to proof to you that other scores exists.

I think Terry is saying if you make up an ad and point it to the sucker who is holding the number 1 organic slot, google in other words your landing page will be temp set to the url of the top organic page... google will think you are hot and give you a 9 or 10.
Makes sense to me but I have never tried it so I have no idea if its true or not.

But do not point it long as you will be paying for visitors that will do you no good.
But if true, then pattern your landing page after that one and you should do good.\

That's what I thought he meant (making your ad's landing page HIS page) but it doesn't make any sense at all. QS doesn't work like that. And if you believed that's how it works, then your QS would change when you change the URL to your own page. So there's no benefit.

QS is heavily influenced by your click rate. Most of your QS is directly related to CTR. Increase your rate with better ads, you get better QS.

Most ads get a 7/10 right out of the chocks, as long as your ad matches the keywords, but try using an ad like "San Diego Real Estate" and use a url like fatbodiesnomorme.com and have a landing page on weight loss... and see how fast your q/s drops to zero and you get banned.
So it makes sense that if you got a 7/10 for matching your ad with your keyword and then link to a url that matches the ad perfectly it follows that you should get a better than 7/1- maybe an 8 or 9 out of the chocks,
however you are right after they run you ad a hundred times and no clicks your 9/10 will go to hell quickly in a hand basket.... but if all else is great you will get a great initial score and I think that is what he meant... no matter how good you are if the CTR falls your score will fall quickly... but you iniitail can be very high untill the see if it works...

Google Adwords will always give a 5 when you start a new keyword, then if its relevant for the keywords, ad copy and the landing page, then they give you 7.

Getting a good quality score for your Google Adwords is quite easy, what you need to really focus on is the CTR, where its the most important.

No. You could get anything really at the start (a non-relevant keyword could get lower). Usually, you'll get a 6 or 7 and as you get impressions and the system accumulates data on your ads, this will be adjusted. This adjustment can be quite sudden at times. The system does not need too many impressions and they seem to do quite a bit of calculations on all sorts of things. They have after all years of data they can use.

But I do not see how using some other site's URL in your ad would help. In fact, I do not advise doing this at all.

I have one campaign where my quality scores are all 7 and 10. Nothing below or in between. I think the secret is completely clean code (not using wordpress, just code everything yourself, you know exactly what you get)
