Default web 2.0 property Google Dance What The Heck?

Warriors,

I've never seen/heard of this happening before, perhaps you have?

I had a web 2.0 site that was ranking on the 3rd page of big G for the main keyword. I threw a massive amount of backlinks at it.

After I threw the backlinks at it, it has completely disappeared out of the rankings. Don't get me wrong, I've had my domains and inner pages of my own domains do the Google dance. Disappear and then return, usually at higher rankings.

However, I have never heard of/seen this happen with a web 2.0 property. Has this happened to anyone else before?

I always thought it was okay to throw massive links at a web 2.0 type site at once, that it wouldn't get sandboxed. I hope it's not sandboxed, but it's been a week since it was ranking.

I'm very confused about this happening.

Thanks in advance if you can shed some light on this situation.
