The simplest ways to get backlinks

I've heard how important it is to get backlinks and I was wondering if posting in forums with my keyword in my signature would be good way to do it? Any ideas?

you'll get backlinks but they have very little value in the eyes of google

I agree with matrix. There was value for the signature links but not now as google is not giving much value for them.

But certainly forum signatures mean something on some forums, or do you mean that these are a complete waste of time?

I do think Google has gotten smarter about how it values certain types of links, it has become more and more important to continue to build a well rounded link portfolio. Certainly posting 10-20 times a day in various forums, especially those related to your niche is going to help SEO long term....although this cannot, any longer be your sole means of link building....still no reason to discount it altogether though.

They still work, and are a good part of a well-rounded backlink diet. I'd spend as little time as possible on each website and build up as many different ones as you can. Just leaving 100 comments with the same signature on the same website doesn't work like it used to. At least not for me.

I can concur that by posting 100's of comments on a single forum is not the best and most productive use of the time taken when it comes to google giving value to them.

I feel that signature links are def worthwhile in SEO. Try to put your eggs in many baskets though.

forum signature helps on exposing your site to the crowd so don't focus on the pagerank or serp think of it as you can get new visitors when they see your link which interest them

I doubt that links in forum signatures offer any significant amount of link juice. They would possibly help get your site indexed, although there are plenty of better ways to do that.

The real value of signature links is in getting actual clicks from real people browsing the forum.

Forum posting is good way to create one-way links. Just make sure not to spam on forums.
