Hi everyone. I have been noticing lately that the SERP checking tool I use to check my true position because I can't seem to do that by even deleting my cache and internet history and cookies and all that. And lately my SERP checking tool has been all kinds of messed up. I was wondering if maybe it could have been affected by personalized search? Do you guys think this might be happening? |

With the changes that Google is slowly rolling out, the end of Universal search results and ranking is near. I wonder how this will ultimately effect search traffic to websites. How do you define "True Position" when personal cookie tracking and Geo Targeting are effecting the search results? Bruce Clay has tools for Business that use proxy to supposedly return results based on the market demographic for which you are searching. However you would have to dig pretty deep to figure out how they are doing this... and if it's even accurate. The days of defining "Ranking" by simply typing in your keyword phrase then counting placement are a thing of the past. |

Well they have to have a ranking from a place to start. Lets say a brand new computer or brand new internet user. They would have to have rankings to start with before the results get personalized. I guess what I was looking for was that.

I had a similar problem and by chance, I tried checking my position from a different computer; it worked. Maybe try dynamically changing your IP with a wireless internet card, may be worth it. Let me know what you find! |

I know it isn't ideal for finding up and coming pages but to find the best performing ones just use Google Webmaster Tools. You can get an analysis based on Google server to see which terms are coming up in the SERPS. Better still is that you can see which ones are actually getting clicked.
