Bluehost was among those studied in the analysis of web-based hosting services in cooperative online learning programs. BlueHost is one of the 20 largest web hosts, together with hosting well over lots domains with its own companies.

I Ducksauce, You can not find Wordpress in HG cpanel. Only find it via fantastico, or his new script istallation manager named : "Quick Install" under Software/Services group in cpanel. ... My opinion: I use HG since i began on IM. I had no problem with the services, but when I had some issues, the support service attend to me very well with great skills and very pleasant.

I've been using Bluehost for 3 years, have done a great service and customer support, but sometimes I can find bad staff live chat, like, like they did not want to help the long-term customers. And these last few weeks, I've been experiencing CPU load that make my sites below.

They are nearly identical honestly. They believe that it like the most about hostgator is having a reseller account which comes in handy if they have multiple sites that they eventually sell.

They claim you can have any number of databases. So I created multiple sites using Drupal and each occupied around 200 tables per site. I eventually exceed 1000 tables in total and my major site got SHUT OFF! I mean without any warning email or notification, my site which serves my customers got terminated and I figured it out from my customer and that's BAD. I mean HTF I know exceed this magic number? They said I causes performance problem on the shared server which I don't think that number of tables will cause that since my others sites are pretty idle. Second they claim my plan can have infinite files. I don't know I have exceed that limit (I think 10k or so?). This time they show it on the CPanel with the number in red, however I don't login to my CPanel that frequently and I exceed that magic limit and my hosting service got terminated again without notice!! So WTH I don't get any notification before they decided to terminate my service at any time they want and they like??? Also I experience the load time sometimes take much longer (like 15 seconds without response, used to like 4 seconds) Especially around pacific time 12pm, I think that may related to scheduled backups, who knows? Well that's what I have experienced in the past and if I can find one better I will definitely move.

Hello all, I found this thread searching for hosting recommendations since I am pretty disappointed lately with Bluehost. Wanted to chime in with the others that are having issues with them. I'm having problems with my sites getting throttled, usually while I am working on them, but also when I get a few visitors. Apparently WordPress admin functions take too much CPU resources or something. It seems whenever I need to do a lot of editing themes and such in WP inevitably my site gets throttled and the pages start taking forever to load. When this happens I open up my Control Panel and check the CPU throttling section and sure enough, it shows throttling when I am editing various files and such and reloading things a lot. I even bought a dedicated IP thinking that would help somewhat, but the throttling still happens. I have been a Bluehost customer for years and this is the main gripe I have with their service. I'm going to give Hostgator a shot for my niche blogs and see if they are any better. Thanks for the info. |

Yep, I'll add myself to the bluehost hater party! ![]() If you're looking for a host, DO NOT SIGN UP WITH BLUEHOST! One of my sites went from 3 seconds loading time, to 8, 12, 15 and even 20 seconds. I haven't added content to the site since November, and haven't done any plugin additions to it. Yet the site has been throttled a few times. Of course, bluehost gives you the same lame excuse that it might be a plugin or content on the site, etc. Then i ask them, but you can see from my stats that for months the site has been averaging 3-4 second load pages and suddenly it goes up? Then they say, it could be a plugin, content, etc. I'll be moving the site in a couple of weeks hopefully to hostgator. Funny thing is, when I first signed up for a webhost, i signed up for hostgator. However, they said that i got flagged for credit card fraud, so they had to manually approve my account, and at the time I was out of the country for work, so after 4 days of trying to email them stuff, I just said, screw it, I'll go to bluehost. Bad bad decision. |

Definitely a big supporter of Hostgator. Been with them for 5 years now and rarely have had any issues. Anything that has sprung up in the past has been taken care of in literally minutes. Uptime has been awesome, sites load fast and customer service has always been great. Never had a reason to look anywhere else for hosting.

HG Baby or Biz acct, or Reseller for hosting and NameCheap for domain purchases. HG runs a 1 cent first month deal often - can save you a bit - don't have code handy but you can google for it, or get 25% off your subscription - just use coupon code 25OFFER111 |

Hostgator for its ridiculously great customer service. I was using another provider which blocked my account for high volume of traffic. When I tell them "what about my unlimited bandwidth?", they then told me my website is sucking a lot of resources on the server. When I asked for some statistics, they never come up with them and unblocked the site eventually. I decided to make the move and e-mailed some providers about their services, including HG. While the others replied my e-mail in 2 days to 1 week, HG contacted me from my phone number which was in my mail signature, in the next few hours. A billing representative answered all my questions, including technical ones. Now I work with HG for 4 years and rarelly had any problems. And when I have one, they solved it no more than half a day. By the way, the website which caused me to leave my old provider, is now much larger and driving more traffic; HG never complained about any server or bandwidth issues ![]() Just another option you may look into may be iPage (check signature). I am also working with them for about 2 years for a different project. Hosting 9 websites with all of them database driven and very busy sites with lots of members, I did not have much problem at all. Once, they mailed me to check one of my sites as it was causing abnormal load on the server and may be hacked, the next day they returned to me with the exact line of codes and database queries which were suspicious and I was able to solve the problem without any code inspection on my side. |

I went ahead and got a Baby hosting plan at Hostgator based on recommendations in this forum and I couldn't be happier. The same sites that took forever to load from Bluehost load nice and quick on Hostgator, and it is so nice to work on my sites and not have to wait for them to be 'unthrottled' from Bluehost. I do prefer Bluehost's cPanel, but I can overlook having to use Fantastico it if it means better site performance.
