There are MANY factors that can affect how long it will take to index a random page. It depends how fresh their content is, how popular the website is, and many other difficult to measure factors. Don't worry about waiting for that link ... focus on new efforts while you let it happen.

I actually got in a debate with a so called "SEO Expert" about this today. He was claiming it can take as long as 30 days to be indexed, and another 30 days to full affect SEO. I showed him examples of my links that had gone into effect in less than 24 hours. So really, it depends on the quality of your links and how much the spiders are crawling your links. |

what do you mean quality of links? Would not a link on digg be the same as say reddit? It also seems that yahoo indexs faster than google ofcourse i could be wrong.

If you post a link on a site that hasn't been updated in 5 years, and gets very little traffic, than it will take a long time to get indexed. On the other hand, if you managed to get a link on the front page of CNN somehow, it would get indexed near immediately. Make sense? Digg would probably be a bit more popular than reddit, but thats my opinion. Of course front page of digg would be even better yet. |

Nobody but google itself can really answer that question.. Anyone that says they have the answer is not telling the truth. You can ping it yes, that only "notifies" the search engines but it does not mean they will index the backlink. There is no promise that any search engine will index any backlink at all ... James |

Hey kids... just remember, if you are using google webmaster tools... they never show all of your links. If you have 3,000 backlinks they might only show 1,000 of them. How long does it take for google to index a backlink... how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop? Nobody can give a clear answer because nobody knows. All you can do is make an effort to ensure that google finds your backlinks... from there it's out of your hands. | |

Here is what I do. After I make sure the link is valid and working, I use ping.fm which broadcasts out to 20 (up to 30) social bookmarking sites at once, and hopefully that will encourage the spiders to come and take a look at the nice new link. Maybe it works, maybe not, but certainly dose not seem to hurt anything. |

My answer would be that only Google knows "Why" a link is indexed at a specific time frame but as far as "How" to get it done quickly(24 hours or less), there are several fairly reliable ways. One of the most reliable ways for me is to post your link/content on a PageRank 4 or higher Web2.0 site. The pagerank criteria takes the traffic volume into account. Web2.0 sites would include blogs, forums, bookmark sites, video sites and social networks. Basically any site where visitors can contribute content. Here's a real life example. I launched my new Keyword Ninja WSO today around 1PMCST. (shameless self promotion )1. That new forum post is already indexed in Google mere hours later. keyword ninja - Google Search 2. The NEW video on Youtube for the same product (Keyword Ninjha) is also on the same SERPs page. Those are brand new pages which were indexed within hours and not days. I can pretty much repeat that for any topic, any time. There's other ways to get it done even faster but I've said too much already. ![]() I hope that helps. |

Way too much work to get a page index bro! Theres other reasons Im sure your going to all that effort ... but there's stuff going on on autopilot thats getting pages "cached" in googles index in under a minute. If your doing all that to just get a new site page found by google - brother stop killing yourself! Searchology has the right plan. I dont believe for 1 seconds you need a PR4+ page to get the job done - but web 2.0 sites with consistantly fresh new content [ scraped andautomated works fine ] filled with 1-2-3 of your profile backlinks gets into googles cache FAST .. and if done right - the links on those pages get spidered and lead to your profile or other backlink page urls and those pages get spidered. The right setup - content - automation and about 15 days to get it in the groove ... then you can have stuff gobbled up an in the index likkity split. Quote:

You can actually have your backlinks indexed within an hour easy and sometimes faster if done with google friendly article-press release-blog-video sites. The key is to speed up the process. If your doing onsite codings for seo purposes then that can take a while but there is a few ways to speed it up. But just focus on seo friendly google friendly sites and ping along with couple of other white hat friendly and correctly techniques and you can be indexed and on top rankings within an hour guaranteed. |

As far as I know, Google updates it algorithm everyday but they don't show it immediately. And when the time comes Google updates the result of your inbound links, they don't show all... just partial of your inbound links.

i have seen a lot of times where my banklinks get indexed by yahoo in a single day. So,just imagine how fast the much-more-powerful google bots will index a link. But needless to say,it is not easy to know whether all your backlinks got indexed or not by doing a link: search on google. So,just see if yahoo has indexed it.

I heard that about week ago Google updated all the pages and that is why a lot of PR changed. I also heard that in 3 month time Google plan to update their formula and that we gonna see big changes...a little bit scary...

It all comes down to how google sees your links, are they created on existing pages with links already, if you're creating new webpages then your indexing rate can be anywhere from 40-80% if your pinging/backlinking them.

Only Google knows the time frame to index a backlink. And it depends on several factors. Keep on building links and that will pay you back soon. Building lot of links will not hurt your site in anyway... |
