Well, Google Dance is no secret and i am used that sites occasionally disappear from page #1. With that one site i got worried since i have position #2 in Google for almost a year now (outranking wikipedia on #1 is hard ). What happened the last days is that my site for the KW was simple gone from page #1. ( I did NOT do any link building, let alone massive backlinks, since i already have top position with this site and didnt see a reason to.) Now...the site is gone for a week or so and i start freaking out, so i went to my site and wrote a new article. Its a WP blog which means that which each new article Google is pinged, new sitemap is made etc..etc.. (The site has a static frontpage, the articles are accessible through links on the site) Now...each new article, as soon as i press "publish" in wordpress IMMEDIATELY pushes the site back into Google #2 position. A half an hour ago i was still looking for my site, then i wrote the article, pinged...checking Google...ITS THERE again. WTF? This already happened a few weeks ago, but then the site disappeared again for unknown reason. And today i did the same thing....i went to the site, wrote a new article, wordpress pings google...and VOILA! here's my site again not even 10 seconds after i did this #2 in Google for the keyword. I am little stumped since i don't know what's going on really. |

I agree. It's getting difficult understanding what really is Google dance. Something similar happened to my site on page one that went through Google dance. I did backlinking and selected a site that is PR6 with high traffic. Half an hour later it reappeared. Now after 2 days it disappeared again.

I totally agree. I did not check my website ranking immediately after adding a new post.. but I checked it a few days later and BAM!.. I was back up to my original place. Google Rocks! |

I had a couple of new sites that have been on page 1 for a couple days then disappear for about a week then reappear on page 1 again. No backlinking or posts. I then added a post to one of them and it has stayed steady on page 1 for a while now. The other one that I have not added a post to still comes and goes almost daily.

| SEO is like a dark art or something and Google is deranged but we love them anyway. You follow a system and implement it and just when you get it working all the rules seem to change???

I guess it all happens to everyone. I have that experience too where you are on page #1 then the next thing , you are nowhere to be found.

Yeah. Same here. Had a #1 rank for 14 months, then nothing for a week. No backlinks. Oddly enough, it reappeared in the same spot as an old domain name I used to have the site on, but still directs to the correct URL. You definitely need two left feet for this dance. |
