Default Do you use SpyFu - or other tools to check the Number of Advertisers?

Thanks for reading.

Anyone who has spent much time with SpyFu knows that it often indicates that, though the Google Keyword Tool indicates that a keyword has a high CPC, in actuality, there are no advertisers bidding for it.

Does anyone know how exactly SpyFu determines this to be true?

We all know that Google usually fills in the Adsense block with something anyway - despite showing zero advertisers in SpyFu.

But, in your experience, how important is it to know the "number of advertisers" before starting to target a keyword?

Do you use any tools besides SpyFu?

Thanks!

Peace :)

I have similar thoughts.
That's why I don't trust Spyfu (or any one tool for that matter) 100%.
Sometimes I'll type in keywords and get no results in Spyfu but there is always some Adsense ads coming up in Google.

Another website you can try is - #1 Keyword Software & Keyword Tool for Keyword Research & Tracking
You can input keywords in there and it'll give you CPC, # of advertisers and much more.
www.semrush.com is another. It doesn't give # of advertisers, but it'll give CPC figures.

I use Spyfu but then also do Google search and see how many advertisers there are. I also look to see if there title matches my target keyword. I'm not sure if this method is sound, but logically speaking if you see a ton of advertisers for "dog toys", and there title says "dog toys", that there are plenty of potential advertisers. I know of nothing more than this very unscientific method.

thank

anyone ever try Keyword Country

Powerful Keyword Research Tool for SEM, PPC and Adsense – Keyword Country

they seem to have a 'profitability' rating for the keywords

and about 2 months ago, i remember seeing another software package that rated actual potential keyword profitability, but i can't find it

Peace :)

I also use SpyFu and check Google sersp just to make sure. If you dont you can waste a LOT of time. Id rather target a keyword with a lower CPC and lots of advertisers than a high CPC keyword with only a few.....bit of a no brainer..lol

It would be good to hear about any more tools that help you with this in addition to the ones mentioend above!

I realize this post is a few months old now, but I would be curious for anyone who is using spyfu or keywordspy, is there a minimum number of advertisers you would consider to be acceptable when trying to evaluate the suitability for targeting a keyword for monetization with adsense? I use both, it seems that keyword spy will show a higher number for the same keyword compared to spyfu, not sure why. I realize there are a lot of variables, but if anyone uses these I would be interested in any specific criteria you may be looking for. Thanks in advance.

Considering other tools: there are two main competitors of SpyFu : SEMRush and Keywordspy. Semrush is the cheapest one.
