Has anyone ever been banned from Adsense for causing page impressions by visiting their own site to see how the layout/ads look? I find myself doing this upon launching a site to ensure the ads are somewhat relevant and the color schemes match. As a result, some of my sites have 10-20 "false" page impressions the first couple of days after launch, is this something I should immediately stop doing? |

Nah, I push my to 100 sometimes. Google isn't silly. If you had weird click behavious happening at the same time then perhaps.

As the old saying goes, "You can look but you can't click!"

There was a member here who was banned and told by google that "too many impressions" was the problem. It drove the CTR very low. She hadn't considered impressions (who would?) and was using her site as her home page. So yes, it can happen but 10-20 won't do it. kay |

Friend, There is no problem visiting your own website to see the look of your site. But don't do it again and again, it is difficult to reach 1000 impression a day in same IP, when it happens google will ban you, because out of 1000 impression I got $6.00 but it was not generated by me. google will started looking impression and IP location after some one did more than 20000 impression in the same IP, he was using "opera browser" in its one of the option to reload every 10 seconds" he chose that option for his website. When 10 second is over, his website will be refreshed, so it counts one impression, within 1-2 hours he crossed more than 1000, so that he caught by google and banned from adsense account. So careful in this regarding. |

I don't think there is much to worry about burning impressions when visiting, it is clicks you gotta worry about.

Are you sending traffic from a lower tier search engine? Or is the traffic organic?

Well I by no means would even consider doing something as blatant as that. I just wanted to ensure it is not completely out of the ordinary for people to load their site up 10-20 times to check ad placements, etc; without impeding Google's policies. Appreciate all the replies. One other thing I am curious about, do you actually get paid for impressions as well? Or is it solely based off clicks? | |
