Default Creating XFactor style sites in Wordpress...help!

Ok, I hope this question is going make sense. I bought XFactor's ebook, and would like to begin my first site. I use a mac so Xsite pro web builder is out of the question. I have been trying to learn Wordpress and figure out how I can arrange my site similiar to John's thicky yoga mats example. I downloaded a trial of Artisteer, Wordpress theme generator, was able to customize a theme that had a similar look and feel. (not completely identical, but similar) So i install Wordpress into my host and go to make my first post (one post per page to make it look like a static site) and I can't get my posts to look how John recommended: position images at the top, adsense under the images, then content body. Can anyone out there using Wordpress for John's system tell me how to do this? I have been racking my brain over this all weekend.
Thank you

Go learn HTML, then do whatever you want:

Introduction to HTML

It'll take like a day, maybe.

And just how the hell is learning html going to help April learn about Wordpress themes? If you learned html in one day, you didn't learn it very well.

You're going to have to hard code the images at the top, this is how I did it for WordPress but can get tedious after a while if you're developing lots of sites.

What I would recommend is NOT to use the images at the top but instead use some images ont he side or towards the moddle or bottom of the post, this hasn't affected my CTR at all and has actually worked wonders.

You wont get it to look EXACTLY like John's theme but you can get it VERY close indeed. It just takes a lot of tweakign in Artisteer then a bit of coding. Good luck.

You missed my point. If she learns HTML she won't need wordpress or templates, unless she specifically wants a blog-focused site. I didn't ask, sorry. But if you're putting up niche sites, or even 10-20 page sites, HTML is easy to do once you've learned it. You can make each page look any way you want very simply.

One thing I did when using wordpress was for the upper section where an image might be, is I used an Amazon plugin that displayed products. Looks pretty good and it gives a secondary place to make a few $s.

Thanks for the clarification TJ. I prefer static pages for mini sites too.

Thanks to everyone who has answered. Zaheer, I have another thread in the forum, and I just asked you a question on your reply in that thread before I came here and checked this thread.....you answered my wordress question here though, so thanks!

So are you saying that the placement of your photos in the middle or bottom has worked just as well for your CTR? i love the themes Artisteer creates....I really want to use that program.

Ok, so can you just paste your adsense code into your post where you want it to show up? (I know you can get plug ins and what not) but I thought I read that you could also just insert in into your post.

Thanks guys, you all have been incredibly helpful.
