I'm building a website for my cousin who sells products for a specific diet, and a lot of her competition all has zero PR websites... yet they are all selling real, physical products. It's really baffling me, I'm kind of confused actually. Also, if you create a bunch of backlinks for a diet related website, will Google spank you? I'm just starting to wonder if there is some sort of prejudice in Google against diet related niches? Or did I just find a really weird niche where nobody is getting any PR? I found one site on the top 10, out of 3.3 million results, that has a PR over 1, and that was a PR of 2. The rest are PR0. What in the world? |

I think you just aren't looking hard enough. Even my crappy little diet site has a PR4.

Google is just software. Google rewards quality and the PageRank you see you might as well just ignore. It has little to do with how a page will actually rank for a given keyword phrase. Google factors in a lot of criteria besides just links. |
