Default Blog Commenting for SEO Purpose

What do you think about blog commenting for SEO Purpose. Is it still effective for increasing search engine ranking as well as link building?

I have seen many webmasters talked about SEO blog commenting. Some of them are still in favor of blog commenting and some of them think that this is completely useless.

Few days ago Google official webmaster blog released a post about blog commenting please read this post here: Official Google Webmaster Central Blog: Hard facts about comment spam and post your valuable inputs about this topic.

How many of us still believe that blog commenting is useful for SEO and how many are in against.

There are some blogs that are more like communities, and I post in some of them and get traffic from them, but I don't post just for SEO purposes.

I voted no, but I'd like to attenuate: a link is a link (probably even nofollow)

However, I've found comments to be too volatile to be a viable backlink method. Good comments certainly do bring some SEO value in addition to real visitors.

Of course it is still great to use for SEO purposes as long as the link is dofollow....i mean a nofollow link is okay but if google can't find it publically then you efforts would be wasted.

I will say that alot of forums that are nofollow are beginning to out weigh the dofollow forums...but find blogs with high PR and dofollow links will do you justice in the long run IF you don't comment in a spamming way.

I normally don't start using links the same day I sign up because the of the moderators are on that method like white on rice...leave a few posts on the blog / forum w/o any links and then in a week or so add in your link

Big blowout not so long ago about this (actually that article from Google was back in November) in one of my threads. I voted yes - it still works but like it or not its under the gun. Google wants webmasters to get rid of it and the chances are high that if they don't they will do something about it since they are claiming they already do.

The only way to protect yourself going forward is to diversify.

1. It still works
2. Google often says they do things they would like to do, but aren't yet able to when it comes to their search index.
3. Someday they will discount the links, or drop the sites they are on or some combination to make the spamming stop and to force webmasters to clean up their properties.

Each day we get a little closer to requiring a site with good content to rank and these get rich quick, **** on your neighbor techniques get worth a little less. We're getting there, slowly but surely. Mean time a lot of people are making a lot of money with the current sewage.

If past booms have taught us anything it's that many of those that prosper, piss away the money and don't plan for the future, so some current high riders will have tin cup in hand in a few years.

Bumper sticker seen in Texas: "Please God, send one more oil boom, this time I promise not to piss it all away"

Note that the no-follow attribute has absolutely nothing to do with google "finding" a link or not. It has to do with whether or not Google would count the link for purposes of link juice and seo organic ranking.

I fully agree with #1 and #2, but I am certainly not certain that #3 will ever come to fruition.

I'm certain of change. It always happens. So not certain on blog commenting either but since things change and they are suggesting they want to get rid of it in their algorithm I think the chances a re really good they will make good on it.

Besides which there is always the possibility a major blog platform will make changes too and the trend now is to make things nofollow.

I would not count on the longevity of the backlinks, but if you do want to post comments for backlinks in the time being, you should at least try to make them thoughtful/useful while providing a backlink.

Hell yes it works! You just have to "do it right" - actually put some works into writing comments that doesn't look spammy and are related to the niche.

The basic purpose of the internet is to provide the platform for the web users, where they can share the knowledge and communicate with each other. In the same way blogs are the best way to communicate and share the information with each other. Blogs are playing an important role in this era since they are the best for gaining the information.

I think a quality high pr dofollow blog comment is very important and it can help to increase our rank if you do it right. In some high traffic site, you can get an extra visitor

blog commenting is a very poor seo tactic and if you search on google for terms like (free online games) or (online blackjack) or (online roulette) or (online casino)

you will find me on two of those searches and neither me nor my competitors use blog commenting as a way to get links because there are far more effective ways of getting a lot of links
