Do I need RSSbot if my site is Wordpress with 5 ping sites?

I was just firing up RSSBot for the first time, bought it months ago but have yet to use it, and then I was wondering. Wordpress already auto-pings whenever new content is added, does this mean RSSbot is pointless? Or do they do different things? I guess I don't clearly understand RSS and pinging?

RSS distribution is different from pinging.

Pinging is simply an alert mechanism to allow a remote server to know that your blog has been updated.

RSS distribution takes your RSS feed and aggregates it, placing it into categories and mixing it with other feeds. This will often result in links back to your site if your content is good. It can also result in unauthorized distribution of your content to scrapper blogs, if that prospect bothers you.

About scraping, I don't care if they link back to my website, how can I get a link into my RSS so they scrape me but it has a link back to me on their page now?

Definately worth using as part of your Arsenal. I use RSS Bot for all my Wordpress sites...submit and ping!

Once you update any content on your site just ping it and thats it!
