When you create a backlink to your site on a high PR forum or blog but the inner page where your link sits is at PR0, do you still get a high quality backlink?

Lots of people swear by them, for example Angela's and Paul's packets! A few don't make much difference but a few hundred of them do. Ive had profiles indexed within seconds on these high PR sites. Its definately worth using them as part of yoru arsenal. Zaheer |

I definitely can attest that they do help. Depending on the competition, they could be enough on their own-although I think they are best used as part of broader link building routine. John-Can you restate what you're saying there? It seems you're suggesting creating posts on these high PR forums which is generally the opposite of what most of the package providers are currently saying. BTW I do think there are other ways to be indexed. |

Yes, it will still give you a good quality backlinks as it will come from a trusted domain even if it is from PR0 page. Although there are other factors such as relevancy of page to your site theme that counts.

so is the general consensus this... the only reason for profile backlinks and blog commenting are indexing purposes, preferrably on high PR sites because they get crawled quickly? If that is the case, how do you get high PR backlinks (other than going to a website owner and saying 'hey, will ya stick my link on your high PR page?') |

As for me, profiles back up the majority of my backlinks for all of my sites, with a decent amount of blog commenting on my "major" sites. A few links of other times thrown in for good measure, sometimes, but not always. If you want proof of their effectiveness: See this thread where my partner Terry Kyle and I demonstrate that we currently have *6* of the top 22 sites in Google for the search: backlinks. Tom

First, you can do forum profiles, with no posting, and get the power from those backlinks. In addition, you can add a signature to a forum profile and post on the forum to get backlinks from your posts on the forum. Just because you do 1 of these, doesn't mean you can't do the other.

So, in your experience, you are saying you have seen lots of progress with your sites just from profile backlinking? I will check out that thread you recommend. Do you ever get any backlinks from high PR pages? (not sites) And if so, how do you do that?

Yes, I have seen lots of progress in the SERPs from just profile backlinking. For my sites, as I get over 100 backlinks total or so, I do through in other types of backlinking to give a little bit of balance. Mostly blog commenting, but maybe an article or two, a few web 2.0 backlinks, etc. I do have backlinks from high PR pages. These are mainly from blog commenting (spying on competitors or other high ranking sites is a good start). Also, sometimes you can find guestbooks on blogs or community websites which have around PR3 or PR4. Often with these I stay away from using spammy anchor texts as that won't let your link last long. So I do things like hyperlink periods, hyperlink smiley faces, or other ways to stay under the radar ![]() Also, sometimes you can find threads on forums where the thread has some low PR, like PR 1 or P2, which are still open for posting. It depends. I survey the scene and see if I think that using my anchor text will get my post or comment flagged. If I think it will, i don't use my anchor text. With blog comments, I just use a fake name that I make up, as with blog comments it usually hyperlinks the name you use to the website that you list as your URL.

Google is big on trust - trustrank - being close to trusted, high PR sites and pages is good, the closer you can get to a highly trusted page, the better, and PR is one measure of the trust Google places in a page along with relevance. Quote:

On my own experience, using forum inner pages is quite good to populate number of backlinks, those method are using when We're trying to bring our SERPs Up. But It's not a good way to raise the pagerank of the page We're trying to bring up. If You want to bring your SERPS up, You need quite a lot backlinks from various trusted site so google will pick the keywording backlinks and bring your website up on SERPs for that keyword |

Yes take that link because in some days that inner page will get a PR so you will get a PR link at that time.

I used Angela's program to get lots of profile backlinks and I know they work very well for me. However it is important to get these profile backlinks indexed so that you get the relevant backlinks with the anchor text you submitted. There are many ways to get your profile links indexed but that would require another thread I guess.

My suggestion to you is to skip that advice. Webmasters are not as stupid as they are portrayed and users of those sites aren't either and will alert the webmaster unless they don't care and if thats the case the underhanded trick wasn't necessary. There are PLENTY of sites that allow you to leave links without having to get underhanded. When you do something like that you are telegraphing that you know that your link is not welcome but you are willing to trick your way in. That infuriates webmasters and makes them not only more likely to remove your link but report you as a spammer and frankly given your admission by using things like that you are.. People tend to forget that you are trying to build a business and no one outside of Internet marketing trusts a company that does things like that. Theres absolutely no reason given the wealth of great places that welcome backlinks to do this to webmasters.

To me the most likely candidate for why this works is the principle of domain authority. Its not talked about much here but domains apparently have authority not just pages. Seomoz one of the most respected SEO sites has a good intro to concepts here SEOmoz | Whiteboard Friday - Domain Authority & Page Authority Metrics and Google has basically admitted that certain domains with High PR pass that trust/authority on to their pages.
