Default Image Ads - No Impressions, No Clicks. I'm Going Crazy!

Hi guys

I started an Adwords image campaign about a week ago. There are about 6 different sized images and over 1,200 keywords and my bid price is fairly high.

My ads have all been approved - about 4 days ago - yet I haven't had ANY impressions yet and ZERO clicks.

I can't work out why my ads aren't being displayed.

I'm going crazy!

Has anyone got any ideas as to why this might be happening?

Thanks,
James

what campaign settings are you using? Geo-targetting / budget / managed only etc?

I'm targetting all countries and territories.

My budget is £25 per day.

I'm not using managed only. I don't think so anyway.

What you think is fairly high and what you need for ads to show are two different things.

> over 1,200 keywords

All in one group? That may be the problem right there.

Why would having 1,200 keywords be a problem?

I thought you were allowed something up to 2,000?

I'll go and bump up my bids once more to see if that works.

Thanks,
James

The content network when you use keywords only needs 20 to 30 keywords. It figures out a theme from these keywords and matches them to themes on pages to display your ads. From what I understand, it will use the top keywords and ignore the rest. With 1200, it may not be able to figure out a theme as your keywords may be (and I'm guessing they likely are) too diluted.

I don't think that's the problem.

The first report I read about using Google Image ads said to use as many keywords as possible. I then watched a video from another Adwords expert who said to gather as many keywords as possible.

Any other ideas?

James

From Google itself on adwords.google.com/support/aw/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=54588

"Your ad group's entire keyword list helps determine where your ads show on the Content Network. Each ad group should have a cluster of 5 to 20 keywords that relate closely to one another and to the ads in that ad group. The more closely related your keywords, the more likely it is that your ads will find the right audience."

If you have too many keywords, there's little chance they are closely related and therefore finding the right audience. There are many things said by so-called experts. I've seen quite a few and many are just plain wrong and misleading.

Thanks for your help.

I've cut my keywords down to about 10-12.

I'll let you know if it works.

Thanks,
James

Just my suggestion, You should cut the keywords to up to just 10. It's just to ensure the effectiveness of your campaign also.
