Besides backlinkwatch which site is similar for finding backlinks.

I got an error message saying they reached their quota for today
from yahoo.

Is there a toolbar for IE 8 besides Google's for finding out
backlinks to sites.

I prefer Yahoo's site explorer, its pretty accurate for me and better than a google lnik: search which seems to bring up only a tiny %:

You will kick yourself if you don't try this (SEO Spyglass). You can't top it in terms of checking backlinks.

SEO spyglass will show you tons of links that Yahoo doesn't show, I recommend using that (the free version should be fine).

Where do you think that SEO Spyglass gets its info from? Did you think that little program would spider the entire Internet? (In case you didn't know it gathers it's data from Yahoo!'s Site Explorer).

My experience with these free link analysis programs is that they are worth what you pay for them.

Since the link analysis info is so crucial, it's better to get reliable information. I use, and recommend, WebComp Analyzer.

It's not a free tool, but it is very accurate and lightning fast (much faster than SEO Spyglass).

Not the free version, but Spyglass gets it data, in the U.S., from:
Google
Google Blog
Yahoo
Alexa
All the WEb
Alta Vista (USA and Worldwide)
Dogpile
Exalead
Excite

If you really want to get dirty, there are something like 300+ other databases worldwide to pull backlink data from. Is that enough for you?

If there is another program that has more backlink data, i'm all ears.

Unfortunately Google is well know for not wanting to disclose a site's full details, including its backlinks, so I wouldn't trust that as far as I could throw it. Not to mention, not all of us like to signup our sites for webmaster tools as there is a fear that it is easier for Google to track our activity and link sites of ours.

Just look at the "links:" search, and see how it returns something like 1% of a site's real backlinks.

SEOspyglass is nice, but the free version wont get you too far. It'll show you the backlink url, but thats about it. You can see the PR, outbound links, anchor text, or even copy the url with the free version.

I like linkdiagnosis.com. They've even got their own formula for ranking how powerful a link it. While I wouldnt swear on it, it helps you be able to point out your authority links.

Tried that site. A notice to install an add on. Installed add on. Back to site. Same notice. Kept happening.

SEO Spyglass is very slow for me sometimes. Just yesterday I used it and it didn't even show links that have been live for 2 weeks and are even ranking for keywords.
