Default When it comes to Profile backlinks, is it the signature link or website link that counts?

Was wondering something about using high PR profile backlinks. I hear alot of folks speaking about using profile backlinks to get their link juice up.

When I go to sign-up i see a slot to enter my website URL.....i also see the text box to enter my signature....which of the two the areas are used to obtain the link juice?

Another question is should I enter my website link directly after signing up for the forum or should I wait a week or so before entering my website link to avoid my account from being banned?

Thanks for any clarification

(1) Both the unanchored website URL field (note that on some SMF sites the website URL field is actually anchored) and any other place where you can put your anchored links (signature field, about me section, bio section, etc.) will help the linked to sites rank. It is always better to have anchored links than unanchored links for ranking purposes, so if you had to choose one, also go with the anchored links. That being said, a lot of people put links in both the URL slot and and the signature/about me/bio section. For me, though, if I can put my anchored links in the signature/about me/bio section, I usually leave the website URL slot blank, as if the site has a memberlist I don't want someone to be able to simply scroll down and see a self-promoting link in the website URL field.

(2) As with profiles in general, I recommend you come back later to put in any URL information. At least 48 hours, with 7 days being more ideal.
