Default Merging small sites into a big site - Googles view?

Hi all,

so I have made 3 small 1-5 pages site for specific (3-4 word) keywords regarding one niche. I found out after a while that there are dozens of juicy words closely related to these 3 out there.

I would like to make a mega site and include these 3 words in it aswell. Can I just take the content and redirect the backlinks ( about 10 of them ) to the new megasite domain and in the same time pull the plug on the existings 3 mini site domains? Will google see this as duplicate content or anything ?

I believe there is a better chance for me to get keyword.com/keyword1,2,3.html etc etc ranked higher due to the amount of content i will provide to the page and backlinks.

What do you guys think?

Oh and another thing - how come my words are all on the #1-#5 spots on yahoo.com and at the same time are #277 , #345 on Google ? Is there always sucha difference ?

if the words are really so "juicy" then why 'pull the plug'?

just devote your current efforts to the mega site and create new content or spin it.

Peace :)

Lets say my word is "bannana pealer" .

I made a site bananapealerstand.com and freebannanapealer.com

Now i have found 10 other X-bannanapealer and bananapealer-Y words and want to incorporate them all into bananapealermegasite.com (nevermind the wording).

Should I leave those 2 behind or incorporate them into this one? That was my question.

And may I add the 2 keywords are a vital part of the word so I cannot have the megasite without them..

it the websites make more than 10 bucks a year, why kill them?

if you don't want to make new content for your mega site, then sounds like you'll have to spin your existing content.

Peace :)

Set up your megasite as you plan.

When it's live, you can put the content on the megasite. Then go back to the small site and do a 301 redirect to the same page on the big site. Repeat until all the content on the small sites is on the big one and indexed.

At that point, create a domain redirect to a page on the new site explaining that you've merged the old site into the new one, and list links to the old content on the new site.

At this point, you no longer need the small sites, just their domains for the redirect. When the time comes to renew the old domains, take a look at your stats to see if they are pulling traffic for you. If they are, renew them; if not, let them go.

The alternative, if your small sites are profitable, is to keep them going and simply add all new content to the new site.
