OK guys, Im looking for people who have had experience building a good quantity of links to a brand new site! From experience if I have link built a reasonable amount to a new site (like 300 indexed links a week) with no ill effects. No what can I expect if I push that up to say 1000 links a week?! NOTE THAT ALL THE LINKS ARE QUALITY, originating from High PR domains and some high PR pages etc. Obviously there is no sandbox, Cutts has confirmed this and said this is a trustbox, thus if I get high PR links, then I think I shouldn't trigger a trustbox filter. Anyone had any experience in building lots of links to a brand spanking new site? |

Rubbish....backlinks will never get you sandboxed.....why? You can't control who backlinks to your site....What will most likely happen is that those links will viewed as spammy and they will not count in your ranking stats or basically devalued as quality links if the spam filter is triggered. If all it took to get a site sandboxed was to toss a few thousand links at a site I would never have any competition....they'd all be building sand castles. If your site is brand new then don't over load it with a large number of new links each day.....just fly under the radar....sites that have an older age under their belts can get by with a few thousand a week but a newer site should start with a few hundred a week or less and see if they help or not....if not build less until they are helping you rise. |

With my new sites I limit the back links to around 30-40 a day for the first 4 weeks then up the links after that. I've not had any issues or the dreaded 'so called' sandboxing of any of my sites or client sites..

I've always started off slow, and escalating a bit the after that - but for me it more about getting the quality links rather than just links. Quality & Quantity - not just one of them |

I can't speak for anyone else but the whole sandbox thing seems like a ghost story to me. Considering the fact that I have had sites in the past that I threw up and began backlinking to in the hundreds everyday and never had an issue even once. I would say that it doesn't exist. What I HAVE experienced is backlinking a new site like crazy for a week or so and then stopping for a couple of weeks the site dropped from 23 to 400. I think it was because I did not keep throwing the links at the site. |

I don't understand why this myth of Google punishing you for backlinks still exists. If you do create some suspicious backlinks Google might not take them into consideration, but they WILL NOT punish you! If that were the case we would just focus on building bad backlinks linking to sites of our competitors, they'd get kicked out of the SEPRs and we would easily dominate the niche! But fortunately, that's not the case.

I've seen enough anecdotal evidence not to throw out the idea completely. However like traffic mystic I have never been one to over do it and have never encountered a "sandbox". Thats one I have no immediate plans to test because it isn't even necessary. SEO is long term work and unfortunately it clashes with the IM crowd that wants to make $10,000 in two weeks. Do good keyword research and you should crack the front page in a few weeks without having to google blast anything. |

| Can I Build A Lot Of Backlinks to My New Site Without Getting Banned? Yes, you can! I won't worry to much about too many backlinks to my new site, however, I sure do want to make sure all links are PR 4 and above. Usually I get PR 6 ,7 and 8 to pass "trust" rank to my site, if you get 1,000 these types of backlinks everyday for the week or month, your site will become a powerful authority site in just a month !! When your site reach PR 4 and above, even for a new site, you are pretty much safe from most sabotage by massive spam links. You need "trust" from Google, that's why you must not get any type of links below PR 3 - to be the safe side. Why My Site Still Get Banned? Most probably you are posting the content too fast ! I would post only 1 post a day the max for the first month, and slowly increase to 2 posts after that, too many posts to the site without "trust" rank would trigger Google filter. Even your site is filtered, don't panic - keep building authority links, within a month or so, your site will be back on track. What Else Would Get Me Into Trouble? Another thing very important - don't link back to the page where you get your links, you are just telling Google that you are trying to manipulate the search result! or when you are building backlinks for a particular keyword, and your page seems to be "Google Dancing", you went panic and try to do some on page optimization... you felled into Google's trap - your site will be filtered for a period of time... Remember never change any on page keyword during backlink campaign, you can do that later when "Google Dance" and backlinking is over. Conclusion If you follow these guidelines, you should be OK! Getting massive backlinks won't get you into trouble, instead, that's a good thing for Google - your site is receiving a lot of authority, there must be something important...! Kok Choon |

Some good info on this thread. @Kkchoon, can you explain this in details "Another thing very important - don't link back to the page where you get your links, you are just telling Google that you are trying to manipulate the search result!" Do u mean that we should not backlink our backlinks (like ezine, profile links etc)? |

Thank you, kkchoon! I was very, very worried that too many backlinks would ruin reputation, but another user said it right: Why would they penalize websites for lots of people linking them? This is valuable information. Motivates me even more! |

I've launched full blown corporate ecommerce sites with 1000's of pages with no problem. I've launched 100's of niche sites with 10-100 pages at the start with no problems at all. My flagship review blog in my sig had 200 posts its first month, no problems, just ever increasing traffic. That said, there can be some advantages to a gradual drip of content on a blog to build social contacts and to insure pinging of each individual post but this isn't that big a deal.

Like anything its about being controlled and building quality links - don't build 2000 auto generated spam PR0 links from dodgy sites and you'll be fine. Get some quality, trust worthy sites to link to you and also link out to some high PR sites as well and you shouldnt have a problem. You site will do the google dance as you start to promote, but after a while it should stablise and you'll see the results of your work.

yeah, I built around 1000 comments/profile backlinks to a brand new domain. It was ranking on page 2 within a week, then it dropped off into oblivion for about 2 weeks. I thought it was the sandbox for a second. Mind you I have not build a link since the launch of the site, and after about 4 weeks the site sits on page 1.That is, with a related keyword in domain.

Alright guys, how about this for a scenario and does it trigger the google spam filter... If I own and operate more than 50 Wordpress sites with reasonable domain age and buy a brand new domain... Then, write a unique article optimized for a particular KW's that I want to rank for in google... Post that article on the brand new site, add all relevant pages, seo plugins, new services to update and all that jazz.... The usual run of the mill. Then, Syndicate that same article I used on the brand new site over all my 50 odd wordpress sites and link from each one back to the new domain i just created. Also throw in the mix 10 High PR sites as well to spice things up abit. Turn the above 60 odd sites in to a big linkwheel without closing the wheel in the end. Or not make the linkwheel and just make a post on each one of my sites linking back to that new domain. All in under 1 hour... Would this trigger the spam filter? This usually requires manual work to post to all those sites, wouldn't google see it as all these sites are just syndicating my article and linking back to my site... therefore helping my new domain a heck of a lot to get indexed fast and rank well when it first appears in google. Then, in thesame day bookmark it on about 30 social bookmarking sites as well to help the link juice. This gets me listed in under 4 hours, no matter what the site is, whether its a squidoo lens, a hubpage or a brand new domain with Wordpress engine or a typical html site... What do you think of this practice? If all that happens in under an hour or so will i get a slap on the wrist, or worse, will google just discredit all the links to that new domain comming from all my other sites...? |

I too agree ,writing more content for a new website will not create any problem for our website. Google also saying don't go for link building but go and create good quality content to promote your website. By this itself we know google like dynamic sites with lot of fresh content.
