Default A new caution from official Google blog

Hi,

Some of our customers sent us this really important piece of information published by Google in its official webmaster blog on March 19, 2010:

"We recommend that you do not allow automated translations to get indexed. Automated translations don’t always make sense and they could potentially be viewed as spam. More importantly, the point of making a multilingual website is to reach a larger audience by providing valuable content in several languages. If your users can’t understand an automated translation or if it feels artificial to them, you should ask yourself whether you really want to present this kind of content to them."

It is makes sense, after all. Even then, you can see that large websites like the French newspaper "La Tribune" don't know that!
I hope I helped some Warriors!

Google are a bunch of muppets. Yet another arbitary spam decision, this time on how good your foreign language translations are! Of course you can guarantee you will not get a penalty if your translations are supplied by google translator I would think.....

I reckon this relates to the wordpress plugin that auto translates site content into many languages, creating in effect, many sites and increasing backlink volumes as each new site is generated.

I don't think so ... Google itself created an addon for websites.
