Default Any best practices for Directory Submissions

Venturing in the world of submitting to directories.
Going to outsource and hire some people to help.

I see a lot of offers for 400-500 submissions a month.

Is it advisable to submit/re-submit each month?

What are you doing with your dir submissions?

Thx.

I just do a large directory submission all at once. Why?

1. Its much easier than trying to keep track of how many submissions you've done so far and how much more you have to do.

2. Directories dont accept your article all at once - many take weeks to up to 3 months to accept you. So you get gradual links and dont have to worry about building too many all at once.

Check out my sig to see my directory submission service if your interesteed.

I don't know any successful SEOs that dabble too much in directories so my advice would be to not put too much work into it. Some are still advantageous but a massive amount of them are not.

There are thousands of worthless directories out there.

I would stick to dmoz and a handful of top directories like Romow, BOTW & Directory Journal.

HeDir.com ranks #1 or #2 for "human edited directory"

DebtPlan.org ranks #3 for "debt consolidation california"

Yes. It would be better to go with only top most sites. I would also suggest to submit your site in local directories like yellow pages, etc.

Till now I have been doing manual submission for my sites. However I am planning to get some automated software tools for the submission sites.

Best advice is to not submit to all of them in one day and instead submit them like 100 per month or so.. Also don't use it for sites less then 3 months old.. Thats my personal experience..

The explosion of directories in the last couple of years have been new directories uploaded to non-directory expired domains with pagerank.

I personally would not want to submit my sites to hundreds of these "directories".
