Hi Warriors, I'm fairly new to doing keyword research so I'm hoping to get some input from you guys ![]() Quite often when doing a search for a keyword, I find the top 10 is filled by amazon, walmart, etc pages, sometimes all with low backlink numbers (from 0-25), at least as reported by micro niche finder (the reported soc is actually quite high -> 1000). Would you reckon it is hard to rank for such a keyword? Is it a good or a bad sign that the top 10 looks like this? |

Usually these kind of result is because no one is optimizing site / page for that keyword, that's why Google pick Authority site. Use yahoo site explorer to check the backlinks, if very few on these pages, you can be sure to outrank them easily. |

I always check to see if the top 10 pages contain inner pages from walmart, amazon, overstock etc. Usually these pages will have limited backlinks coming to them making them easier to out rank. A word of caution though, don't put your entire trust in that soc score. Maybe do some further manual research to confirm the niche should be easy to rank for. |

Yes, I did some more checking and it looks fine (very low number or no backlinks to page). I will try a few different niches to try to get a feel for how 'easy' it is to rank for them, then maybe take on more competitive terms.
