#1 positions in yahoo and altavista

For one of my site, about weight loss (high comp) I am at #1 at Yahoo and Altavista, and # 19 at this moment in Google. I just wonder, and hope someone can tell me. Being #1 at Yahoo and Altavisa will make any change at Google ranking or does this not effect Google at all?

it doesn't make any difference at all, each search engine uses their own alogorithm and as far as I'm aware it doesn't take into account other search engine's results. You just need to keep building relevant backlinks to your site and google will catch up eventually.

Does not affect anything at all, but it's great that you're #1 in those search engines as it can bring you some decent traffic, just not near as much as Google. Keep doing the right kind of SEO and you can get higher in Google, as well.

Algorithms are not the same but work in similar ways, so if you're first on Yahoo and Astalavista you will be in certain period first on Google also.

I dont think Alta vista have sent me a single visitor EVER.

Actually, for huge authoritative sites, maybe. But for normal sites,
not much of a chance.

Google is not going to morph its results into yahoo/bing's.

It would not make sense to give the same results.

Thanks guys, Will keep building backlinks and Fresh and Unique content!
I notice Unique contect is really important to get rank. It made for some of my sites a lot difference and improved a lot in ranking.

An other site of mine, on position 11 of Google ( 1st on second page) brings me more traffic than being #1 at Yahoo and Altavista!
