Link From Domain Parking

I have found a guy with some really good rankings and his backlink reports show he is getting his links from parked domain pages. He has a "this page is parked on behalf of xxx" at the bottom of the page.

Any idea how you can sponser parked pages? They may be his own domains but the subjects and numbers of domains are immense. I wondered if someone sold this as a service.

That can't be right because google does not regularly crawl or even like parked pages... Most of them are banned infact!
