I am doing quite a lot of affiliate marketing and have noticed that it is hard to promote products that are less then $30 in commission via Google AdWords as of the costs of the clicks. Are you having much luck with Google AdWords? Most of my sales come from Content Advertising, while Search Advertising is way too expensive and Placements dont convert at all. I would love to hear your experience and maybe tips on how to run my campaign more efficiently |

I have one campaign that I've been running in the content network for almost 2 years now. It doesn't produce like it once did, as G has "improved" the content network and has brought in tighter controls then they had in the past. That being said, my product earns me an average of $22 per sale in commissions. My conversion rate, while having dropped from 2.75% down to about 2%, still brings me a fair profit if I keep the clicks around $0.18-$0.22. This wouldn't be possible in the search network. Don't discount the content network entirely. There are definitely some cracks in the floor that still remain where money can be made with the right product. ~Mike |

Hi alexei_aus, You may be able to find some keywords that work in the search network, though it's usually difficult due to the competition. Yet there may be some long tail keywords with extraordinarily high conversions rates that will work for you. These can be rare and may not produce much volume. Probably not worth the time and expense to locate. Another approach is to use such thin margin products as a way to build a list with which you can market many other items. Or, reserve those small margin products to email campaigns to your list. The key is to leverage your assets so that the value is in the customer. Many successful companies sacrificed profits while building market share, just look at the Amazon.com story. They went years without profits just so that they could build their customer list. |
