Default Bumped from first page by news blogs

Hello All,

I run a niche website on pigeon racing, my site was ranked on the first page of google for my main keyword "pigeon racing" since news broke that Mike Tyson was getting his own reality show on animal planet on pigeon racing my site got bumbed to page two of google because of news pages. How can I get back to page one? I am continuing to link build but how do I beat major news sites? any advice?

Thanks I appreciate your help,
-Chris

Don't sweat it. It's a news site. It's never going to keep it's ranks for a niche as small as that.

Once the story leaves the front page of the site, it will start to decrease in rankings. Put up some new articles in a couple of days as well.

I just did a search for pigeon racing and got zero news sites.
Are you searching for news? Normally google will not give
news stories unless you search news. Or it is a major
story with little else.

I had to do a search for: pigeon racing news to even get one
to show up. And it was #10.

You should have anticipated this and put up a Mike Tyson
story.

You can also do press release. There are some free press releases sites that can help in your rankings. Press releases site will distribute the news to different news site.

Why would you quote a post, then act as if you did not
read one word if it?

You think a free online press release is going to trump CNN if
results are giving "news" ?

Number one rule that will never be broken:

Offline news media creates online search(buzz).

You can see if you can leach off some of that traffic by commenting on the news sites. And adding a commentary of the articles in the news on your site to bring in some traffic.

Keep backlinking with the keyword "pigeon racing" and you should be good. Slow and steady wins the race.

those "news sites", press releases etc. are all temporary on #1, usually.

BY THE WAY...simply "show em", go to prlog and/or bignews.biz, write a press release for YOUR site. Guaranteed #1 within a few hours. You can even use the current buzz to YOUR advantage!

Why not try to advertise on their top ranking page. Direct Media buy or if they use Yahoo or Google ads do a site placement on their site.
