Matt Cutts Is In The Viagra Niche

So I just saw someone mention this on another site, go to Google and search for "Buy Cheap Viagra Online" without the quotes and one of Matt Cutts' blog posts is on the first page.

I haven't had a look at his links so I'm not sure if it's sabotage, but this looks like a pretty good example of the power of domain age and authority.

He's even outranking a couple of hacked .edu domains. I thought those type of keywords were supposed to be difficult to rank for?

I heard this one quite some time ago. I guess he made a post about it on his site or blog and ranked number one for some time. Not sure if he still does or not since it has been a while now. I wonder if he thought at the time of posting it that he would rank so well for such a term or phrase. He probably watches what he posts a little more now maybe.

I'm not sure what to think about this. Either G's algorithm is questionable or Matt's blog is gold. I'm leaning on the later.

I have never trusted G or Matt and this just proves why.

I do not know about Matt but I would never rely on Google alone for my business.

I think some people have way too much time on their hands.
I saw this at DP also.

What is shows is what I rant about. Searching as a parlor
trick.

Matt Cutts makes a blog post with a website example using
those words strung together.

What it shows is that google is not too keen on cheap viagra
websites. (note to viagra spammers)

It also shows the power of a blog post.

It shows the power of an old blog post.

It shows the power of an old blog post in a very trusted blog.

I'd say use this example and learn from it.

screw with the entire SEO and IM community by leaving comments on his blog targeting all of the most popular niches. BTW, "buy cheap viagra" is mentioned several times in the comments, not in the post by Matt himself.

Perhaps we could get him ranked #1 for porn as well.

Yes, it's Matt Cutts blog. It's an article about using hyphens " - " in URL's. Some people had some comical uses for hyphens in the comments including "buy-discount-viagra" and due to the authority of his site, he is now ranking for that keyword.

It demonstrates the power of building sites with authority and how you can rank for virtually any keyword phrase.. Obviously Matt has a head start on most of us here with his blog, but working towards authority and age is the best approach to site building for the long term.

Might be the wrote those words while giving an example. that's why his blog is coming up in SERP

That did cross my mind but I think it's simply a matter of his blog's authority. Domain age and authority are important.

check the backlinks and remember you are not seeing all the backlinks. Yes Matt Cutt's site was linked to with those keywords. Its not surprising given the authority of that site and the backlinks. I wouldn't draw any conclusions from it.
