Default Does Having A Translation Option On Your Blog Effect PageRank?

Hi,

Last year I heard someone else mention this. So I did a test. I have been backlinking and promoting a blog that has the WordPress plugin called, "Global Translator."

Then I have another blog on the identical subject with the same amount of ads on it. I didn't promote it and I didn't even put any new articles in it for months.

Google just did a PR update for those of you that don't know.

GUESS the results?

The one blog that has the translation plugin is still at a PR0. I was working on it. Not crazy though.

The second blog with no translation moved up to a PR 2 !!! I mean I did nothing!!! No promotion, no updates (no articles etc...).

What do you think about this???

PR, google pagerank, is all about backlinks,
Nothing more, nothing less.
Google pagerank algorithm is looking at how it is cross
linked across the web on pages that matter.

Hi,

I know you are right! But here are my stats:

- PR0 blog = 693 backlinks (with translation plugin)

- PR2 blog = 296 backlinks (without)

Both have around the same quality of backlinks.

Hi,

One more strange event has happened. After starting this thread I decided to check some of my "dead" blogs. Blogs that I just put up in one day and did nothing with them.

-Most of them are a PR0. One just really stumped me. Around a year ago I put up a blog with around 10 PLR articles (PLR was not even changed). I did this in less than 1 hour. I was meaning to go back and fix everything. Well a year later, it has only 1 backlink in Yahoo, because I did absolutely no backlinking at all for this site. Yahoo must have crawled it and gave it a backlink.

- This site is now a PR2

- What's going on here? Am I missing the boat? Each article has no meta data either! Like I said I was meaning to go back and really start working on it.

- I literally left it for a year. All it had was 10 PLR articles that was not even changed or had meta data in it and I put in WordPress plugins. Then it sat for a year. I didn't even use All in One SEO plugin that does the meta data automatically for you. I used Platinum SEO with the option to do it myself but didn't even do it! No meta data, keywords, nothing!

- It's even in a popular niche!

- What do you think Google is thinking? I was thinking at first it was the age of the domain. I held it for more than a year, but then my other PR0 blog that has 693 backlinks (that I mentioned above) is actually older than this domain!

Weird? What do you think?

You can gain pagerank from links on internal pages not just external ones.

Quite often you will see large sites with several thousands of unique pages and little to no incoming links but the index has a page rank value and the whole site has been deep spidered and each page contains a link to the index page..

So adding a translation option to your site will give a slight effect to this if the pages get indexed. I have a site thats about 8 months old with a translation option on it. Roughly 50% of the translated pages have been indexed. So far I have only good things to say about adding a translation option as I am sure some of the extra traffic im getting is clicking on my paid links.
