Wordpress Social Poster Plugin does not seem to work on my blog!

Hi guys,

I have launched a blog which is called Free Cellular Wallpapers and installed social poster wordpress plug-in, but it does not seem to work?

Under plug-in settings section, it says the following:

"ASP plugin is ready and will add bookmarks to the enabled sites next time you publish a post!"

But nothing actually happens and I do not get any reports. The correct email address is set up on the blog.

Does anyone have any idea why that might be?

Not trying to insult your intelligence, but I have to ask. Did you setup your bookmarking accounts, and change the plugin settings to post to more than 0 sites?

You have to have accounts enabled or it will have nothing to post to and you won't get any reports.

And yes I have created accounts with bookmarking sites, and Set the Value to post to more than a zero sites...

But still no luck, no reports, no nothing...

You mentioned that you have multiple sites (blogs) on one domain name, and you can just re-use your social bookmarking accounts for all of them...

How do you actually have multiple blogs using one domain name... unless they are all realted and focus on one topic.

And another question, you have set up 5 delicious accounts, 5 furl accounts, etc.... Is that possible that Social Poster will randomly make a post to more than one delicious account, or does it recognise that it is the same bookmarking site, and wont' do that... Otherwise you can have duplicate content on one bookmarking site...

What version of WP are you using? I've had some of my students that are having trouble with the latest version of Wordpress MU and ASP. They may be related issues.

Also, have you checked some of your bookmarking accounts to see if your links have been posted, but you've just not been getting the emails?

I use Wordpress MU to setup niche blogs on subdomains. Each subdomain contains many articles on a single topic.

ASP does not differentiate accounts if they are on the same service. So, for example I setup multiple delicious accounts and set ASP to post randomly to 50% of my active accounts. There's a good chance that my link will get posted to delicious on multiple different accounts. Keep in mind that this is not duplicate content with any stigma attached to it like you're thinking. Hell, the goal of everyone on delicious is to get as many people as possible to bookmark their pages. If you get 1000 different people to bookmark your page on delicious that could potentially be 1000+ duplicate content pieces. That is the way the system normally works. I'm just using a semi-automated tool to accomplish a bit more authority.

If you're concerned about some sort of duplicate content penalty from Google, don't be. There is no duplicate content penalty. Google has made that clear many, many times. Just think about all the news sites that republish AP articles. They still rank with that content day in and day out.

I have got a note which says: WordPress 2.6.2 is available! Please update now.

So, it must be the version before it, I could not see anywhere which version I currently have got.

And i have got Auto Social Poster 3.9, and I also tried 4.1, and it did not work.

I logged in into a few of my bookmarking accounts, and did not see any of my posts..

Wordpress MU - is that a plugin?

Wordpress MU is a different version of Wordpress. It's maintained by some of the key Wordpress folks. In fact, it's what runs Wordpress.com. The MU stands for Multi-User. It's built specifically for building blog networks where users can sign up for their own blog and have it hosted on your network. That's why the subdomain trickery is built in.

I don't use it for that specifically, but instead just use the power of the subdomain setup and central management to quickly put together niche sites that are hosted on a single main domain.


I'll have another look at the ASP issue when I get a chance, but I'm heading out of town for a short vacation so I'll be offline for a few days.

Have you tried the Mass Automation forum and asking the folks there?

They killed the forum somtime earlier this year. It redirects to the help desk.
