updating content equal higher rank?

Hey guys, one of my site's is fluctuating between page 3 and page 9, i have not build new contents for this site for about 3 weeks, does alot of content has anything to do with higher rank? though i have build massive backlinks?

If that's the case, chances is that the difference in ranking between 3 and 9 is probably very close. Try consolidating the effort and pushing your website to No.1. Once you see a 4-6 links appearing at the No.1 spot, it means your website is way ahead of your competitors and have consolidated it's ranking.
