I have a site with a ton of content which is not, for the life or me, being indexed by google. It has been online for 2 months, has tons of backlinks, and ranks VERY well in yahoo. I suspect that the site has been banned from google in the past, and therefore is just not being indexed. My question is, should I just start a new site, different url, but use the content I have on the exisiting site? I don't care if it is not picked up by yahoo, as the existing site has plenty of serps. It just WILL NOT get indexed by google, I have tried everything. You think this would work? Thanks guys and gals. Robert |

Are you using WordPress? Just wondering. I had a case where a default install of WordPress blocked the search engines. You flying a Cessna there? Might be a Piper, I can't tell. I think I see a low wing but not sure. |

Did you check to see if there are backlinks going to that domain from shady places? Possibly prior to you obtaining it something was done to get it de-indexed by google as you mentioned. Might want to try requesting reconsideration in webmaster tools. Just explain the situation in as much detail as you can. |

It is not that hard to get indexed. I would say your suspicions could be right on, especially if you bought a used domain name. I would get a new URL and ad the content you have. |

After I make a wordpress site, I turn on access to the search engines and install google analytics. I usually get indexed within 2 days. If you have tried simple stuff like that you may have a bigger problem like the others noted.

That happened to me with a domain once and it wasn't even an expiring domain! I had registered it "new" (or so I thought) and it never got indexed. About a month or so later, I checked it at Internet Archive: Wayback Machine and sure enough it had been owned once before and must have been banned! I did move the content to another site and that one got indexed fine. Lee |
