SEO comp on google. ARTICLES, SQUIDOO AND HUB PAGES

Is it typically a good idea to set up a simple wordpress blog targeting a specific keyword if articles and squidoo lenses, and hub pages lenses are high up on page 1?

These sites do have a bit of backlinks to the specific page that's ranking, a couple of them with around 200 backlinks or so.

Can I still outrank these sites?

Also what if the exact domain I want to target this keyword isn't available? Is it ok and SEO friendly to add an "i" before the domain?

i.e. iyourdomain.com because yourdomain.com was taken

What about adding the "i" onto the domain?

why not try some article marketing and a similar keyword phrase with decent traffic on squiddo and article marketing first? Better yet, run an adwords campaign for 24 hours to see how many impressions you get to test the traffic and or profit potential before investing in a site build.

My experience with squidoo, is that is gets authority.
Very hard to unseat because of this. There are
sites that will be impossible to outrank. People just
don't believe this. Same thing could be said about
wikipedia, amazon, etc.

Why not squidoo yourself? It's a terrific way to funnel
traffic and make a few bucks while doing it.
