I have finally saved a nice chunk of money and ready to buy an old, established site. This is going to be a big investment for me.While i was going through some articles regarding buying established sites, people have said that changing whois and hosting all at the same time resets the domain age.is that really true?I cannot imagine such a thing happen after i buy a site.I am not going to change the niche of the whole site or anything.I know that is not liked by google. your suggestions will be of great help guys.do input anything you have in mind about this matter.thanks. |

In my experience, changes in hosting and domain ownership doesn't affect a site, for good or bad. Google doesn't appear to track this algorithmically. For example, penalties remain in place even after the transfer. Sometimes these penalties remain in place even after the domain has expired and been deleted from the ICANN database. Google still keeps the domain in their penalty box database though. Changing and deleting pages, content and outbound links, losing inbound links and other such things that commonly happen during a transfer can cause temporary or permanent loss of ranking and/or PR. |
