Default Google Adsense and the Economy

I have a question... How has everyone adsense been since the economy has been diving. I really haven't notice that much of a difference on the sites that I've been using them on. I'm just wondering how everyone else is doing.

Mine's unchanged, but my sites are not financial-related.

I am in the mortgage niches, i was worried banks would pull back on advertising but that has not happened yet.

cool. that shows just how resilient google actually is. i would have thought some targeted markets would have dipped as well.

When economic conditions are poor, that is not neccessarily the best time to pull advertising. There are places businesses often cut, but advertising is one area where spending often increases in a downturn, this is by no means a hard and fast rule and there are exceptions, but if business is decllining you need more than ever to get new customers to your business.

My earnings have been up since August, which is historically a low time for online advertising. Mostly in the women niches.

Dave's spot on

However the real impact of the recession has yet to be felt. Give it another six months or so and companies may start cutting their ad budgets.

Fortunately I think online advertising tends to provide better bang for the buck -- expect big TV campaigns and whatnot to get cut back first.

Has anyone here been using any of the alternatives to adsense

For me the amount per click is so low in the adsense content network, it no longer makes any sense to focus on adsense when the other advertising networks are paying more, in addition you can use many of the ways that use to work with adsense that are now banned but not in the other advertising networks

If you are working with a substantial number of pageviews, Direct Media Exchange can fetch higher CPMs than Adsense in many cases. It works by sending your pageviews to multiple ad networks, which compete to deliver the highest CPM.

Each network has its own payout threshold, however, usually around $50. If you've linked your account to six networks, you'll effectively need to make around $300 before you start seeing payouts.

I stopped using ypn because they don't send enough targeted ads to the niches I was using

I had a pet niche and didn't care what the ads where long as they were pet related

most of the ads the sent me were, insurance, mortgage, business related instead of pet related, took me a long time to get my money so I could can them for not performing

I would suspect if your niches are business related I think they paid better than adsense, my money per click was much higher than adsense
