When and why did squidoo.com lost authority in Google eyes?

I read somewhere that links from squidoo.com have authority in the eyes big "G" such as links from Hubpages?
What actually happened and whether it is worthwhile to build Squidoo lenses and link them?

No squidoo does not have dofollow links building squidoo lens will make you rank higher in search engines like google but you have to give it some link love to rank even high.

I don't the time when Squidoo lost its authority in Google search results. But it is obvious that Squidoo has become a perfect world of online marketers, as a result, Google will decrease its authority.

It's all about quality.
The text links in your lenses are indeed backlinks.
You can't put more than 9 or they will suspend you.
They are not "nofollow" not sure why people think that.

Using the large/small image with a link is nofollow, but does
not count towards the 9, so it can be a useful traffic funnel.

Squidoo is a powerhouse if done right.

Like all things, do them right, get the love. Over time, build
your credibility, squidoo will treat your lenses different. We've
had a Lens of the Day which certainly contributes to your
likability.

Here's a little trick about updating. They like updates. Many times
there's nothing to update. So, edit the lens doing even the smallest
thing, republish on at least a weekly basis.

Here's the best tip: Don't build a lens on common IM stuff. Think
outside the box. Look at the trending searches, topics, news, and
celebs. Make a lens on that, funnel your traffic. Lauren Conrad and
Crystal Bowersox are doing quite well. If you have no idea who they
are, exactly! Millions of people as we speak do!

The only thing I have noticed is google takes a week to
index them now, instead of what used to be minutes.
